The best way to run the country is close to the way it was run before Reagan took office. Keynesian economics. More left wing and more libertarian. Basically the mold the USA followed for most of the 20th century.

I'm not sure how you're stringing those two thoughts together, but you might want to look in to Hjalmar Schact, who ran the economic revival you seem to be interested in through backing a new currency with labor in order to rebuild post-WWI Germany. I'm not sure if that would be a permanent measure, but it is a good way to bounce back from a defunct economy saddled with impossible debt, which is where we are thanks to the Federal Reserve.
