Probably India at #6
Filnand Stronk.
France is the only other country with a nuclear carrier and it doesn't have a ramp so France number 2.
In my opinion if there ever is a global major war again... carriers will be totally useless. Obsolete, like battleships.
I'm pretty certain of my top 5 ranking though...
...maybe even surface navies will become obsolete
With Elon Musk deploying HK satellites that can blind every Country on Earth for the US govt at will the ability to find nevermind target a carrier is non existent.
Someday they will be obsolete. Today is not that day.
Modern navies literally have no real defense against diesel-electric submarines or even against modern missiles. The last place you would want to be in a war is in the navy.
>2. China
LMAO, they don't even have a fucking navy. Last I checked they got some used piece of shit boat from Russia and it's basically useless.
1. USA
2. UK
3. France
That's about it, no one else has anything worth a shit.
India is a modern cruiser away from respectability.
China is a paper tiger.
As a Navyfag i can say we will only hold that #1 spot for a few more years. Poor leadership and shit morale is slowly ruining the Navy. Not to mention the liberal bullshit shoved down our throats 24/7. I have 2 years left and im just counting down the days already.
KEK
My list > your list
hol up hol up, i can't breathe
1. usa
2. japan (tremendous capabilities)
3. uk/ south korea (call it a draw)
4. china (numbers not everything)
5. russia/france and I am falling asleep
will ya stay in japan navyanon?
China literally has way more modern warships than the UK, France and Russia combined.
>the liberal bullshit shoved down our throats 24/7
That's the entire military in general, and it is killing morale. They need to bring back don't ask don't tell and promote based on people doing their job well.
>Japan
>South Korea
lel
Numbers don't mean anything, and this board uses IDs so you can stop being autistic quoting yourself and myself multiple times.
>carriers will be totally useless
>literally have no real defense against diesel-electric submarines
Not true at all. Over exaggerating like this only makes it seem like you haven't done any research at all.
Are aircraft carriers as important as they used to be? No. Are they invulnerable? Also no. But they do still have purposes and are still hard to (practically) defeat
Made in china is a trademark for bootleg garbage. Don't believe everything the chinks are telling you. Most of their stuff is sub-par copycat stuff. It may look the part, but they don't perform. And the lack of experience is also a big factor
>1. usa
>2. japan (tremendous capabilities)
I like Japan... but come on
>and this board uses IDs
Oh, you don't say?
They are not garbage but training, experience, tradition and non-politicising are impt.
There are more missiles than ships so fleet count is not everything.
>Are aircraft carriers as important as they used to be? No.
With this next generation of drones I'd say they're more important than they were in the past.
Japan Navy
Size 50,800 personnel
254 ships
346 aircraft
I bet all of them just work, like Jap cars, rail and 15 year old girls.
...
>1xx. Norway
>But they do still have purposes and are still hard to (practically) defeat
Their only purpose is against third world countries (or way smaller countries). Would be worthless in a global major war. Hell, they would have become obsolete even in ww2 if the war had lasted 2 more years.
How do you project power overseas without carriers
For power projection, the US Navy is on a whole different world.
After that I'd say UK, then maybe France and Russia.
Recently built =/= modern. China lacks experience with long range underway replenishment, but is probably very well capable within its region. Until China can conduct something like a Great White Fleet Exercise, it's just a very well funded coastal defense force.
How would you rank India's navy? I know we have a carrier but don't know what our other capabilities are.
Navy doesn't get a lot of respect here. Everything is about the army because our only real threat is Pakistan over land. There is no real threat by sea
That's their only purpose... to project power in peacetime (or to fight against third world countries). In a real war... they would be obsolete in an instant.
Wrong board spastic but I’ll list it for you
>USA by very fucking far
>China
>Russia
>Japan
>UK
>France
>South Korea
>Italy
>
Do you need me
To go on
Fuck no, no fucking way have you seen how many accidents the poos have in their navy? Here and this is during peacetime

>US
>EU
>Russia
>China
>Japan
>UK.
Japan is in the top 5, once they put F-35's on their helicopter destroyers
If area denial is all you want, the Russians are still ahead of China with their years of cold war submarine experience, even with 2/3rds of their fleet rusted to hell.
China? 2? Top kek its Slovenia, we all know that.
All high ranking military commanders in the PLA, PLAN and PLA Air Force are beauracrats and party commissars.
And everyone is out to make money.
As far as I know, America has never used its carriers to project power against a modern powerful nation. Carriers are good against Iraq and Vietnam. Not sure how they'd do against a country with strong airforce and defenses. Don't think you can park a carrier in the south china sea and expect it to have any impact
Surface Navies are memes. WW2 proved that expensive "invulnerable" fleets can be ruined by less expensive subs and naval bombers.
Thank god
you know
nothing
Dude, your list is completely fucked. First of all Japan arguably is #2 and China's navy is a joke. Although it could launch lots of missiles at you if you got close.
Almost entirely irrelevant, in the age of hypersonic nuclear missiles.
But...
After they're all sunk, transport ships with shipping containers will bring you all the bugmen you can handle. And then some.
Didn't Russia screw India over with the Carrier they sold them?
No way the Russian navy is above China and the UK...
So how would you invade a “capable” nation overseas in conventional warfare
Carriers are not obsolete and won’t be for decades to come
Yes they do ASW systems are always improving helicopters are a great counter to submarines and the near future will have submersible drones and helicopter drone fleets that will work alongside maritime patrol aircraft, also why do you believe diesel electric subs are good? Nuclear subs are infinitely better
Well yes okay, not garbage in a literal sense. Just not up to par with the competition
Depends on how those drones are being deployed. The cluster swarm project is already using warheads to deploy drones, so they might as well be deployed via ICBMs or from subs
Maybe this could be easier to discuss if you explain how you think an aircraft carrier would be used in a combat scenario?
Because it seems to me that you greatly underestimate its capabilities
You don't even need conventional subs any more. Hundreds of unmanned drone torpedos line the ocean bottom, awaiting orders, including pic related

Nuclear Uboats dont count?
US
EU
China
Russia
UK
Japan
China just took over Russia, UKs navy is half the size of that of Russia.
I know, you might notice I didn't even rank China on my list. Their navy is coastal defense force with a massive ego.
China is arguable. They have more numbers than the likes of the U.K. and France but it’s the type and quality of the ships within their navy that counts too. Quality over quantity.
1. USA.
That's the list. No other country has a Navy. They have glorified coast guards.
both china and uk have a lot of them
>China
>#2
Not sure their shit even floats.
No nuke is going to create a wave of 300 meters high.
Okay so how are you supposed to escort your merchant navy and amphibious fleets? Also BMDS is better on surface ships, if you read about WW2 you’d know the kriegsmarine suffered many set backs because there was no support fleet to back up the u-boat wolf packs,
Surface fleets are one of the most important parts of any military
Why lie on the internet?
>US Navy
>UK navy as soon as the carriers are ready
>Russian submarine fleet
>French navy
>Italian navy
>Chinese navy
In that order
This assessment is correct
In the coming years hopefully the Japanese navy will take the third spot.
As I said about China here...
Russia’s ships are garbage. U.K. and France both arguably have a better navy than either Russia or China but definitely Russia.
You all put China way too high, their flash visuals really fool all of you so so much lol
CCP has been building dozens upon dozens of missile frigates and attack submarines since the early 00's. Their projection power is almost non existent, but they could wipe out any European navy if not all combined just by sheer numbers.
Americans don't seem to realize that China has the largest shipbuilding corporation in the world and because of the trade war are turning their focus on having an entirely self-sufficient semiconductor industry.
Meanwhile you are buying frigates from Italy.
I'm amazed that so many people here don't even Include Japan despite it being at least #3. It's the 4th largest Navy by tonnage. Sure China has more Tonnage, but a lot of that is just shitty useless boats.
Imagine mocking a nation for wanting to defend itself against your evil Jewish empire that attacks random nations every year for the sole benefit of the Jews.
UK navy is god awful
You should read about the issues they’ve had with their 6 DDGs, BAE systems runs a monopoly on the RN and they’re constantly getting ripped off and dealing with overpriced dodgy equipment
>CCP could wipe out any navy...
From where? If they sailed their navy to China? lmao don't make me laugh.
USA is big but china and the USA have a stupid doctrine bigger aircraft carriers are just bigger targets I would bet USA is making the SPACE FORCE in response to the possibility of ICBM from space fucking them up very easily in the pacific
>China
Lol
>2020
>navy
>but it’s the type and quality of the ships within their navy that counts too. Quality over quantity
How would you know the quality? Are you just guessing? (hoping?)
You do know that back in the 70s and 80s "everyone" said that things made in Japan was shit quality - like they say about China today.
Its like bush war; the thing that differentiated the munts from the rhoadies was training. Even with roughly equivalent gear the rhoadies had like a 30/1 kill ratio.
China has zero modern war experience; theyll get wrecked immediately if an actual war breaks out. Think of the wars the us engages in as constant live fire training exercises
I don't care how many targets they build. If they have to stay within friendly waters to avoid being btfo by enemy aircraft/missiles, their a coastal defense force only.
No one says that about Japan anymore...
Maybe up until the 2000s
Chinas modern navy is very capable you can thank Israel for selling them a lot
Of US tech
China has a very capable blue water navy now and many overseas logistics and support bases
Don’t underestimate the bugmen they’ve got a massive frigate, corvette, fast attack craft and amphib fleets
Any chance we'll get world war 3: gook nukem edition?
Obviously that's not going to happen, because the EU is taking a neutral stance if not siding with China already. But as far OP's post is concerned, it makes sense to put China second because their navy is stronger than any European one period.
>Think of the wars the us engages in as constant live fire training exercises
The US army is well trained in that regard... not so much the navy.
russia is two. russia's ship based missles are far ahead of anyone elses. russia would sink the entire chinese navy in an hour. only the US would even have a chance.
Which is part of the reason why Japan is at least #3, maybe even #2
5-8 are often also refered to as "green-water navy" and 9-10 as "brown-water navy".
It depends on your countries objective and how you use your navy to reach that objective. I'd rank Iran super high even though the heft of their navy is suicide speedboats, but that's still enough to defend their waters incredibly well, even against the worlds best navy, the US Navy.
And it's expanding tremendously fast. At this pace they will overtake the US navy within 15 years.
>1. Norway
Our ships are so stealthy they don't even show up in the defense budget.
