I'm really not sure mate. Everything is fucked at the moment. One of the bad scenarios (that doesn't involve ww3 or something) is that our country's turn completely into brazil/south african tier shitholes but hopefully a significant portion of our people make it to Mars and build something new before total collapse.

If we can put people on Mars soon, it will definitely inspire others to join them. At the very least some groups will form with that idea, once it's shown that what was once a sluggish NASA pipedream is totally possible. Elon will almost certainly just double down on everything to make the colony a success, even if that means selling every asset he owns

I don't see how much could change here on earth other than some innovation re: space tech and inspiration for a couple of decades (thats about how long any inspiration from the moon landings lasted).

If you are one of the lucky first 1 - 10 million people who can get out to mars, that would be pretty cool. You get to do shit out in space.
Even if it's mundane work, that's still pretty cool. And you might actually get the chance to stand somewhere that no person has ever stood before, a feat which is virtually impossible on earth

They're beginning to make the Highbay, aka tall construction shed, specifically for superheavy using a fuckhuge crane. We probably won't see the first prototypes for another 6 months, or until after they have finished a 20km flight test

To give him some credit, dude literally wrote the second major book on Mars colonization, and has spent 30 years fighting for manned missions, as well as creating the Mars Society. No Zubrin means no idea to use the Sabatier process for fuel making, and so no Raptor engine. All these decades being sidelines by NASA have made him quite bitter though, and even when things are starting to look good he has to find some kind of hill to die on, such as arguing for a mini starship design when it's not necessary and would only sidetrack SpaceX
