If black people have good economic circumstances for growing up in, they can achieve just as much as white people.

My mom grew up in the south side of chicago. Was the only white girl at her school, got jumped every single week by the same group of girls because she was the “white girl”. My moms dad beat the shit out of her and her sister and brothers all the time. She ran away when she was a teenager with her lil sister and went down to the south to find her mom. Her Mom took her in but never cared for her. Eventually my mom graduated high school and went into the military, and still works for them and is in the reserves. She makes over 100k a year and is one of the most inspiring women in my life.

She even graduated from SERE school because shes so determined, and would truly rather die than quit. For years she worked for the Navy, the Army, and had her own business for organizational development. She was smart enough to take accountability and not make excuses. Her and my father DRAGGED themselves out of poverty and then worked for YEARS to drag themselves out of being a lower middle class military family. Bad upbringing is not an excuse for failure. I’ll never forget what both of my parents had to go through to claw themselves out of a shitty situation. And they did it all for me. Their stories are what gives me a purpose in life.
