Stretch the border as far down to Panama to reclaim natural resources like trees and shit to be preserved for future livestock. Canada would come mostly without a fight just because it’s already largely a part of the Western Anglosphere, has stable law and order and could be integrated as is. Asset buyouts and exploitation of corrupt politicians would make it easy. A US ruled Canada would likely retain commonwealth status. Mexico on the other hand is fully aware of how the US annexed Hawaii and has legislated in a way to prevent a foreign corporate takeover. Mexico would need purging and depopulating. The same formula of invasion and starvation that the English used on Ireland would work well. Invade Mexico under the auspices of putting down cartel paramilitaries and crush Mexico’s military for intervening with ours. Follow up by interfering with their agriculture and blaming resultant mass famine on whatever corn rust plague happened to be spreading that year and there’s an excuse to stay to render aid by beginning population replacement.
