I feel like they’re gonna try to make eating meat illegal at some point. Eating lab grown meat or eating bugs will be legal. I’d rather go vegan, in the meantime I’ll keep eating meat.

A lot of times, there's big media pushes to expand into markets that really don't exist. Farming bugs would theoretically be pretty inexpensive, and could be sold under an environmentally friendly guise. Problem is, Westerners aren't yet accustomed to eating bugs (no, crustaceans don't count). So you gotta prime the pump a bit and get them to actually WANT TO.

i thought about this, farming is basically converting one type of biomass into another. farming beef is inherently expensive because you have to start with hay, which costs something. on the other hand, bugs can feed on almost any type of biomass you give them, meaning that farming bugs would be incredibly cheap

I've eaten some freeze dried buffalo worms before but it's honestly too expensive, not very tasty nor appealing.
I doubt insects would ever become a staple food, or even widely consumed; if anything I think it'll gain some traction in shit like protein foods as those are already massively overpriced.

People don't buy these things as a novelty already, no? I remember the butterfly pavilion in CO had all sorts of bug snacks in the gift shop area.
