>Antidepressants are supposed to work by fixing a chemical imbalance, specifically, a lack of serotonin in the brain. Indeed, their supposed effectiveness is the primary evidence for the chemical imbalance theory. But analyses of the published data and the unpublished data that were hidden by drug companies reveals that most (if not all) of the benefits are due to the placebo effect. Some antidepressants increase serotonin levels, some decrease it, and some have no effect at all on serotonin. Nevertheless, they all show the same therapeutic benefit. Even the small statistical difference between antidepressants and placebos may be an enhanced placebo effect, due to the fact that most patients and doctors in clinical trials successfully break blind.
>How is it possible that medications with such weak efficacy data were approved by the FDA? The answer lies in an understanding of the approval criteria used by the FDA. The FDA requires two adequately conducted clinical trials showing a significant difference between drug and placebo. But there is a loophole: There is no limit to the number of trials that can be conducted in search of these two significant trials. Trials showing negative results simply do not count. Furthermore, the clinical significance of the findings is not considered. All that matters is that the results are statistically significant.

For example Netflix was created by (((Marc Bernays Randolph))), grandson to (((Edward Bernays))) who pioneered the use of propaganda, renamed to public relations for the purpose of mass manipulation in a consumer society. Everything that Netflix produces is made to brainwash you. The documentary The Century of the Self describes Edward Bernays (((work))).
Show me definitive proof of the existence of even 1 mental illness and that it can be treated with drugs:

100 years from now people will laugh at chemical inbalance theory. Just like we laugh at humour imbalance supposedly cousing ilness.

Have you read the DSM? You should try it some time, not a lick of hard science within its pages.

It's not very funny when doctors sell poison to trusting normies. They have ruined countless lives in the USA, millions upon millions, yet these doctors still stride proudly into their offices with their heads held high every day. They must be demons.

Psychfag here. The reason why psychiatry is so broken is the pay to win system in place. Most problems can be talked through, and the patient guided to a more realistic understanding of the world. However, that's not really profitable. Pumping him full of proprietary pills however is very profitable. Same with over diagnosing everything. At my clinic, I get a few hundred dollars for every autistic child that enters my door courtesy of uncle Sam. Apparently fuck kids with turner's, or down syndrome. The incentive is to therefore over diagnose, and milk the test of daddy gov. When it comes to committal, you have 2 categories of patients; the honest to God risks, and the kids with rich parents we're milking dry. Regardless of why you're in the facility, we can charge you a premium for the... privilege. Once they're tapped out, the prognosis magically turns to something far more favorable. It's fucking god awful, but again, very profitable. I'm moving away from this god awful profession and looking into something in the trades. Sure it might not have as big of a paycheck, but at least it's honest.

Every single psychiatrist gets the Minecraft treatment in a rational world. They are entirely controlled and bought by politicians and big pharma. Their very profession is a crime.
Austin Watson
look ill be honest. im a firm believer that 90% of clinical depression is a direct result of the fact the patient is likely to be surrounded by dickheads.
that said there is irrefutable proof that some medications have beneficial effects. recreational drugs starting and nicotine and alcohol all the way to the hard stuff is proof in itself.
SSRIs and some anti-psychotics may not be entirely beneficial to the patient but to them and their families they have been a godsend.
where would you rather the patient be? at home in a familiar and safe environment or strapped to a bed in a hospital?

Why not change specialities?

its so good to have you guys back. it makes a nice change from JIDF shills.
>SSRIs and some anti-psychotics may not be entirely beneficial to the patient but to them and their families they have been a godsend. I'm a doctor, so I've had experience prescribing this stuff, and I hate doing it. The real issue is that these people cannot fit into our society due to their mental illness. Instead of changing society, we change the individual to conform to what is very artificial. That is why anti-psychiatry is based. That is why giving methylphenidate to "neurodeviant" kids is fucked. I'm applying for a radiology teaching post and I'm considering writing a book about antipsych. Would be a slight pipe dream with the workload though. god I hate what the medical profession has become GPs (at least here) are slaves to fucking QOF points
I normally do cognitive research, however with corona I no longer have a job because apparently a disease that kills geriatrics is the most dangerous thing in the world for my target demographic (15-25). I'm now stuck in SA trying to make a little go a long way. People have tried, and it doesn't matter. Look up the Rosenhan experiment. The madlad had himself and 20 of his students fake being mentally ill, and we're committed. It should have been a wake-up call, but again, none of the important people want to change anything. It's too profitable. I personally try my best to be as honest as I can be in my career, but it has definitely cost me a lot. If anything I simply don't care anymore.

Yeah but without it they would prolly just be as insane. It doesn't help, but neither does their lunacy.
>Florida kids are getting sent to psychiatric units under the Baker Act in record numbers
There are lots of Jews in Florida and a lot of Jews practice psychiatry.
Psychiatry was actually invented by European gentiles though. Freud invented psycho-analysis, that's not psychiatry. Kraepelin invented psychiatry.
You would likely have a much easier time opposing psychiatry if you presented psychiatry as a form of WHITE SUPREMACY. That would obviously be bullshit, but the tide right now is anti-White, and so to present psychiatry as a White thing, would be more destructive to it I imagine.
Psychiatry is not a White thing, it's just some retarded thingt.
I agree but as a good doctor you need to consider the net benefit. best outcomes or lesser of two evils. psychiatry is not an exact science. the drugs themselves are bad particularly when dealing with patients who have impulsive behaviour types.
i'd much rather see a family unit being able to function in the saftey of their own home than have the patient in a stressful environment like a mental institution.
I stress it's not an exact science one pill doesnt solve all but it does provide some moderation and respite for the patient AND their loved ones.
SSRIs are bad purely because they need to be managed In a manner that is not compatible with the conditions they are prescribed for.
drug companies are also bad, but not for the reasons stated here. its the life changing drugs they have patents to and they havent released that im more concerned about. it's immoral and the patent laws need to change.
