Additionally, it won't be a typical war like WW1 or WW2 with people in the trenches. It will be blazingly FAST and unbelievably destructive. It probably won't last longer than a few hours at most.
The problem is that any Chinese war will lead to us having to defend Taiwan and (eventually) losing it to the Chinese. We can't defend Taiwan indefinitely and we can't invade the Chinese mainland. Any war with China is a lose/lose.
