dumbass, the excess mortality is the amount of extra deaths than predicted or average, meaning that there's more people dying than usual, and quite a bit more. roughly 5-10% more for a single cause. that's considering the lockdown measures and that it's still spreading with no long term immunity

Excess mortality is a number created by looking at previous years of historical data, accounting for population adjustments and seasonality..

It's like estimating you'll probably make 1,232,232 this year vs just saying you'll earn 1.2mil this year.
