Just wanted to post my take on the government's shit decision regarding exams here.
First of all, state school education is fucked. The only places where those schools are not horrible is the small number of places where bad demographics/social problems are not unmanageable and the teachers are not just a bunch of resentful local no hopers who tell everyone they meet they should have been an account, lawyer or whatever... And these guys do it right IN SPITE OF stupid guidelines designed by people who don't have a clue.
But to give you an idea of how bad this is, all teachers, even shit ones, know that you need to be able to defend your grades. In this age of victim complexes, entitlement and gibs, kids will find ways to put pressure on you about grades. You need to be able to figure out how to stand your ground ahead of time (once you've done this a few times kids know to stop trying this shit with you). But these government idiots seem to have genuinely not seen it coming. Or if they did, then they were quite happy with their plan B: accept the teacher grades. Great. Now we have the highest grades ever for the least actual work ever - the wonders of progress and fairness!
I wonder if the clowns in the media will pick up on how unrealistic moron teachers predicting As for their whole classes of Ngubus have been foolishly vindicated - and how teachers who graded kids realistically will now be deeply resented by the friends of lazy kids who got a D when it turns out all Mr Teacher needed to do was stupidly predict an A and he'd have given the exact same qualification as a kid who had worked very hard last year.
It is fucking disgraceful. If you can't afford private education, then home school your kids.
