Possibly. I know someone this happened to in the PNW. Involuntary hold, drugged him up and then had him sign paper saying he would get rights back in two years. Well guess what? State sent that info to the feds gun background check database. The lawyer said he can petition for state gun rights back but not federal, so you can't pass a gun background check. feds currently have no appeal system. so yes can't get a gun unless it's black powder, musket type stuff.
To clarify, he contacted a lawyer after the two years and was basically told he's fucked.
