Singapore is a city-state. It works very differently. Smaller area to administer, robust economy that is purely trade-based.

Singapore is based on Chink and British colonialism over the local Malay. It doesn't make me want to fill my country with pensioners or cheap labor. Co-existence of cultures does work, especially closely related cultures and local culture build a bigger and healthier national identity. We can build Finnish, Fennoswede, Saami and Karelian culture, but taking in cultures that already have bastions of their own is non sensical.
