This, but it really kicked into high gear around 2011, specifically during and after Occupy Wall Street. The reality is that OWS, the notion that organised, agitated and united working class people might physically attack the rich and occupy their spaces, scared the absolute Bejeesus out of the upper classes. Like I cannot emphasised how freaked out they were by this, and they were right to be scared. People were absolutely fucking fuming around this time because the bankers had crashed the world economy and seemingly got away with it. This happened in the 1960s, the New Left tried to distance itself from Marxism since it failed at giving high standards of living and resulted in millions of deaths with Mao and Stalin. They rebranded to focus on identity groups inside liberal capitalist societies instead of making their own system to support the working class. Instead of fighting for the proletariat and establishing their own governments, they focus on black people, LGBT, indigenous tribes, women, etc, all of which are co-opted by the system itself because it doesn’t actually give a fuck about which group it’s oppressing
