They also single handedly bankrupted the state of california by creating a “free market” for energy which they manipulated.
Then once they went bankrupt these traders didnt go to jail. Instead they went to wallstreet and used the same trickes to corner every inellastic commodity in the world from copper to Crude Oil.
They had crude oil held in tankers and warehouses full of copper to corner the markets and raise futures prices.
Thats why gas was 5 dollars a gallon in 2007.

I am a CPA. From day 1 this shit is drilled into our heads. They were just using deceptive accounting practices to mislead investors. For example they set up fake entities for the sole purpose of hiding their debt on the special entity's balance sheet. Execs had inside info the cover was blown and sold their stocks while the value was high. Regular workers who had stock comp lost it all after the value crashed.

Yeah one of the guys across the golf course from me in a Houston suburb shot himself after they went under. My friend's dad worked for them and lost a ton of money as his retirement was in Enron stocks. He went to work for Exxon after and in 2013ish he moved to Kazakstan for a project in a bid to stuff all the extra money he makes into a retirement account.
