The future depicted in Star Trek, from the perspective of the "Terrans" (Earthlings), is a post-capitalist utopia based in values that embrace real diversity (a multitude of races) as opposed to fake diversity (forced integration/interbreeding).

There are all species working and operating together. This is compatible with right wing mentality because it shows that race is actually important and we're all together celebrating are various differences.

A left wing future is a censored, locked down, and forced future where no separate opinions are allowed and eventual breeding out of real diversity and replacement with fake diversity occures. Think Risa run by the Devore Imperium. That's the great irony of left wing mentality is they do what they claim the right wing does way better and they achieve the outcome they claim the right is pushing for: totalitarianism.

Bottom line, Star Trek usually is the closest marriage of level headed liberals and open minded conservatives. Unfortunately, in the modern era, trannies have co-opted the franchise and now we're forced to eat woke cartoons and anti-Trek protagonists in ridiculous situations.

Sometimes one has to indulge in pure, hopeful fantasy. It's a FEDERATION. Each partner planet/government still preserves autonomy so long as they ratify a revision to their governmental system that is compatible with the Federation agreement.
And even within the show it outlines that they never actually achieve a utopia, despite the premise being technological magic that makes (most) forms of currency of very little value. But it's not without resources, trade, or conflict.

The Maquis story arc was peak based trek until (((they))) got to the writers and had them run it off the rails. But at it's best it was really the peak of star trek. There was a lot more moral ambiguity and nuance to the whole federation thing. Look at episodes like The Drumhead where Picard is constantly at odds with the so called "Utopia".

Because old school Star Trek was written from a neutral perspective. Because the people behind the show-creators- writers- wanted as many eyes watching the show as possible because ratings were king. Every episode was written in a way that everyone could enjoy the show. Each episode presented the idea to the viewer and showed how the crew of the Enterprise dealt with real world problems, such as racism, religion, politics etc. The show would use Wesley sometimes or Data to preach but never preached to the viewer. It did a decent job at telling stories and showing real world problems in allegory and everyone could watch it and not feel like the shows writers were virtue signalling. Unlike the new shit they call Star Trek.

The Federation itself is a post scarcity economy. The writers never spent much time hammering out the details of what life for ordinary people in the Federation was like. Most of the episodes revolve around one segment of the Federation, namely Starfleet, which is run according to military discipline and upholds martial values like , heroism, virtue, self discipline, etc.
