b) its overgassed by design which will reliably cycle the action even when dirty at the expense of longer term wear and tear on internal parts.

It's a copy of an STG44 which is a copy of a Czech gun similar to the VZ58. Basically that proto-VZ spawned the STG which spawned the AK, then they updated said VZ to have elements of the SKS and AK later on. There are a lot of shared ideas in engineering of all things, especially considering all these machines came from the same region. The AK is great but not so great, I think the VZ is a more practical gun. HK roller locks like the G3 are probably the most reliable and still pretty damn accurate, and they can be accurized unlike most AK variants. Those are something else, the AK isn't some amazing feat really, they just left a lot of open space in the action for debris, fouling, and machining mistakes to not make much of a difference. Just don't shovel clay in there obviously, retard.
