I have a 1st generation Moto G running a custom android with no Google software. I have also stripped out the camera and microphones and only connect by way of Bluetooth.
regardless of the custom mods this phone is ancient and does everything you need a phone to do. Its also easy to repair and have replaced the screen a number of times, keep a few spares at home to be on the safe side.
Just stop wasting money and use an old phone that you can fix when it breaks.

I still have a 6S Plus, the thing’s really seen some action. Replaced the battery with a fifteen dollar kit and it still works fine. The only thing that would make me want to upgrade is how much heavier it seems after holding friends and family’s newer phones.
I have a Pixel 2 XL I got like 6 months after launch. I never updated it because every previous smart phone I had would get progressively worse with updates (yes, iPhones and Nexus devices too). I wanted a change recently and looked around and really, really just could not find a reason to upgrade, so I updated instead. Imagine my suprise when battery life actually improved and things got smoother. Android Auto boots in about 1/10th of the time and no longer crashes. There is just no reason to upgrade phones right now. Maybe in another two years?

I work in a business where I need music and my 6 died. I upgraded to the 7 and had absolutely no idea how to play music cuz I didn’t have a dongle. I hated iPhones ever since.

“Telephoto” lens is a bit of a misnomer, because its a 50mm equivalent. Which is usually considered most closely equivalent to the human eye sees. Hence photographer’s affection of their “nifty 50l lenses. The wide and ultra wide lens have lots of distortions. Its fine if you don’t need the Pro model, but I personally think its worth it.
