Hey bros. Recently had an experience that I can only attribute to a higher power, so I've decided to start going to Church. How the fuck do I pick a denomination? There are so god damn many of them

Just think about it. There are no Europeans in the bible.
It is all about Jews or some semites doing stuff.
It is also a very young religion compared to European history. What was before? Why is that invalid? How exactly was is spread throughout Europe?
There is a rich culture that traces back tens of thousand of years if you want to look.

OP, the church of England is extremely broad and contains all sorts of different perspectives. If you want a traditional bible based view, look for a conservative evangelical church. Doesnt have to be Anglican, that doesn't matter so much. Depending on where in the uk you are I may be able to recommend one.

I speak a little Latin (took it in high school and college/university) which helps. Honestly the more you go, the more you understand. And there are “Latin mass companion” books that you can buy (or they just have them at the Church already) which helps you follow along in English. I had the same concerns too because I went to Novus Ordo mass my whole life. TLM is so much better, it’s truly beautiful and I felt a lot more connected with the God. Hope this helps

My one bit of advice when looking for a parish is to stay away from the Greeks. Greek Orthodox Church and Ecumenical Patriarchate. Ever since WW1 they've been under British/American influence and they're going the same route that Rome has been going, ecumenism, deism, "we are all one" "all religions are made by God" that kind of crap.
This kind of thing has happened before, and as we're told in the bible, Churches can be grafted out of God's covenant if they willfully persist in heresy and refuse to repent after being corrected.
Not all Greek clergymen or parishes are bad, but the problem is particularly bad among those two jurisdictions. I'd recommend looking for a ROCOR or Antiochian parish. And keep in mind that Oriental Orthodox (copts, armenians, ethiopians, etc) aren't Eastern Orthodox. Don't let the word "Orthodox" in their name fool you.

Why should you need to know your HIV haec hoc to go to church, its bizarre. Jesus spoke aramaic, the NT was written in koine Greek which was the lingua franca, so everyone could understand it. They all had access to ancient Hebrew but didn't use it because it was archaic, even though it was the language their bible was originally written in (they probably would have used the Greek translation).

Same argument with Latin nowadays, all it does is make things more obscure. The lingua franca is english, why would you not use it if you are a native speaker?

Yes I feel a connection to the TLM. I started going about 2 years ago and before that I never really got much out of Mass. The Homily’s were sometimes decent but I just felt disconnected and would find my mind wandering to schoolwork, rugby, etc.

TLM changed that for me and a few other people I know. I suppose it’s up to individual at the end of they day.

Prots always say that Catholic worship Saints, the Churches, worldly stuff, etc. but if you immerse yourself into the faith you realize that’s just nonsense.
