I agree with this. My younger brother is a functional autist, but he has been so coddled by my mother that it's pathetic, and it's so that he's not nearly as independent as he should be, because he was never pushed to be so. Just expects everything will work out for him without putting in effort anywhere, because he can always fall back on my mom. Unfortunately dad was useless in raising him and never taught him anything about being self sufficient or how to act like a man.
I strongly believe that once diagnosed with high functioning autism, they should be sent to a social camp for a year where they are taught and learn how to socialize properly, become independent, how to avoid being a sperg, etc. etc.

Social retardation is treatable in most high functioning autists with special conditioning, but it has to be caught really early on. It only really works if the corrective measures are taken between ages 3 and 5. Most don't get diagnosed until they start sticking out like a sore thumb in middle school.
