I will say also, i don know how you rack up more than that, like some people say they have 20K in student loans. I guess they went to some super rich out of state college. How is the Degree you got from that school not about to get you a job that can pay fucking $100 a month on your loan? You would have had to have flunked out. If thats the case i dont think its bad to work with those people. If you're never going to go back to school but you have 6K or more in student loan debt maybe just let them get away with paying back half and forgive the rest. If you go back to school they stop collecting again so it has to be because you're giving up.

Its not even student loan debt forgiveness, they are only going to offer 10k off of pell grants you failed out with. Not even graduates, they are going to pay off for people that failed.

that's how it's done here. your tuition becomes a interest free debt to the tax office with a minimum income threshold before you have to pay anything back and with scaling repayments based on your income.

>your education gets you nowhere and you work as a barista for the rest of your life: you finish paying your loan off at 60 but the repayments were so low as to not interfere with your life
>international students pay triple rate for tuition as a way of covering the costs in the meantime
the nightmare scenario where someone gets a degree in philosophy, works as a bartender for the rest of their life barely scraping by thanks to being crippled by student loan debt and never being able to save enough liquid capital to make any kind of play for a better life can't happen here and i think that's makes for a better system, personally
