You're right, they don't follow it's will blindly and some even question the 'gut feeling' it gives them. It can spread to other beings (in one sidequest visigels end up picking it up) though so it does seem to be a virus.

The only thing that wasn't straightforward in the original was only finding out that an enemy has Spikes after Fiora shreds herself into them, and they added a UI indicator for that on the target bar now

I like XC2 but the way the faces and body proportions of some of the characters are drawn/rendered will no doubt make people associate it with "bad anime", despite the visual direction itself being great. Then there’s the few tropey dumb scenes and just by association they will have made up their mind and judge the game much more harshly, despite those scenes not even making up 30 minutes in a 13 hour cutscene game.

And that’s not even taking into account the rough ass unpolished game mechanics and rng.

In the original? Yes.
Kill an enemy and the chest will appear, then save before opening it.
If you don't want what you get, then reload and open it again. It was by far the best way to get some of the low % level X manuals.

Maybe you are given the option? Like you can start from zero or with "endgame level" (but without equipment), enemies levels are adjusted to your choice.

Signifier that an enemy is higher level. Unfortunately the tags for some reason give the enemy a considerable agility boost making them frustratingly hard to hit without something like night vision

Yeah, after 21+. But it says a small amount, but I think they say that, because it stopped scaling. You still got a decent chunk of experience. This is the most popular method to get high level gear and experience in the original.

Doesn't sound right to me. I specifically remember discovering this fact after I won a ridiculously drawn-out battle with a Unique Monster and got jack shit for it.

REMINDER: There are penalties for fighting overleveled monsters, the worst of them is the reduction of your Agility (120 against level 6,increasing up to 200 against 10+).Your hit rate starts at 100% plus whatever Accuracy boost you have (Serene Heart, Night Vision and/or skill for back accuracy). For each point of Agility (after applying skill multipliers) you gain 1% of Accuracy and for each point of your enemy Agility you lose 1%. The penalty might make your Agility 0, making your hit rate pretty low (the minimal is 5%, even if the calc returns negative).

Decent chunk compared to your level. Not that many normal fights gives you, like in the video, 1000+ exp at level 37 and some good items. Preferably, you play the game as normal though. I remember doing the power leveling the third run and it wasn't as fun from there on.
