Subahibi does the same thing where you need a patch to access the 90+% of the rest of the gae

>The schizo with bad English who is obsessed with valve is a German
Are you that kid they arrested for leaking HL2?

It still amazes me they can manage to put erotic content on steam at all, payment processors HATE adult content

no one cares idiot

>visual novels are not allowed anymore on steam
Thank fucking god. I'm tired of that low effort trash on steam. I hope the RPGMaker crap is next on the chopping block.

Good, let them come to GOG.

Rance any day now

>DistantVallhalla
Reminder than his gf is actually a male

good

>no vns allowed
theres literally a golden week sale with tons of vns
also kys for creating a twitter thread

>German
Probably some buttblasted Turk
>inb4 same thing

Visual novels aren't games.

Just download the EGS if you want """curated content""" so badly, you commie fuck

Great. They have some of the laziest incompetent storytelling, mediocre art, and often lack anything resembling gameplay. Removing them would get rid of one of the biggest chunks of low-effort garbage that's been filling Steam.

Nothing to do with curated content and everything to do with quality control. Clicking through textboxes so some weeaboo waifu can tell you a bedtime story isn't video games.

Why do you hate the free market so much? Especially when Steam already gives you all the options to filter out content you don't like

It would only be a positive, even as someone who likes them
VNs on steam was a terrifying prospect and despite people droning on and on about it helping the market it hasn't resulted in any "big name" acquisitions, all that's happened is publishers took that extra income and bought more shovelware

How is it NOT free market forces acting if a storefront decides they don't want trashy, lewd, low-effort content cluttering up their catalog of merchandise? If those pieces of shit were making them money or good for their brand, they'd obviously want to keep them around. You're like one of those free speech fags that thinks their constitutional rights are being infringed because a private company doesn't let you say nigger on their platform lol

Attached: 507.jpg (406x480, 53.23K)

Shitty written porn anime books are not allowed on steam? Oh no whatever will I do?!?

Now find me a major platform that will host these kind of games. Cause MS/Sony/Nintendo/Epic sure as fuck wouldn't without them being censored or an all ages version.

Do you know how much fucking utter trash is on Steam? It's about time they started deleting the thousands of no effort 0.99 cent games on the store while they're at it.
What type of faggots are buying visual books anyway? Read an actual fuckin' book, y'might learn something.

>Non videogames aren't allowed on a platform that sells videogame
This is bad because?

based most steam drones are visual novel fags, they will kill themselves kek

>how will steam drone defend this ?
why would I defend it? Based Steam dabbing on dem weebs

dlsite

It's not a free market when the Merchant's Guild regulates the marketplace.

Mangagamer unfortunately got Sengoku Rance taken off Steam, so now you have to buy it on their website.

Fuck M*ngagamer, just pirate it like a rational human being

Of course, but this is a buyfag thread.

Too many VNs to give a shit about. I stopped purchasing them impulsively years ago. This has been going on for at least 2 years now. Not my problem they can't reinvent their distribution methods and is stuck with Steam and Web 1.0-looking websites to peddle their shit

>it's not free market when a private entity doesn't do what I want!

go kill yourself you literal retard

>i'm tired of crap that I could just filter being available to players that want to play it because I don't like it
wew, lad. way to give up your freedoms. better hope you're not on the other side one day.

Good
Keep VNs away from westerners, keep them untouched.

>I stopped purchasing them impulsively years ago
>Buying them in the first place

Kill yourself.

Good. Get H-games off steam entirely. If you dont have the balls to allow all fetishes, you shouldnt be in that market. Steams policies are allowing two tasteless westerners with an "approve" button shape the future of the Japanese H-games and its fucking cancer.

NOT LIKE THIS WEEBROS

based, wish i had one too

Didn't they say a while back they were going to prune the trash from the store? Maybe this is a extension of that?

How long until steam games are just a 1mb jpeg picture that tells you to download the game from publisher website?

It's getting to that point. It'll be interesting what Steam does when they find out they're only being used as a payment processor

visual novels are barely fucking games
you might as well call Black Mirror's Bandersnatch a fucking game

You know you can filter those games, right?

>Why do you hate the free market so much?
because the free market enables faggots like you to think you're normal instead of a pathetic loser

>people are really trying to argue this is about muh freedoms because steam doesn't want to carry their fapbait anime panty quest storytime clicker "game" trash
I suppose you're mad you can't buy used condoms at Walmart as well?

Attached: 1300044776986.jpg (600x600, 35.19K)

VNs are far from the worst thing on steam

>freedom is bad if I don't agree with the opinions others hold
ok

It's more the fact that the last official position that Steam took on these VN games was that "we'll allow everything as long as it's not illegal", despite the opposite being true these past 2 years. It would be an improvement if Steam just told all VN developers to fuck off, than continue with their secrecy

The problem with that is vague-ass obscenity laws could theoretically be used against selling VNs at any moment in America even with """"""""""freedom of speech"""""""""", especially if a kid might be buying them. Not to mention how badly Valve might get fucked by other countries.

Seriously, look up American jurisprudence on obscenity laws. People have been successfully prosecuted for selling pornographic comics to adults with adult characters because they were too close to a school. Loli is also technically federally illegal because of the 2003 PROTECT act no matter what Americans on Zig Forums will tell you.

Steam must be taken down then

Attached: 1588187163151.jpg (1329x661, 228.54K)

just remove every visual novel made anywhere outside of japan and ban english first language speaking devs from ever posting anything anime related.

>steam drone civil war

Attached: Tim-Sweeney-800.jpg (800x452, 38.02K)

Valve is too lazy to set up appropriate age gates for other countries. Being marked as adult content means you get instantly banned from being sold in 20 countries.

Also loli is legal in the US. Loli can only be prosecuted as obscenity, which is so subjective that most prosecutors don't even bother trying if that's your only crime. Once in a blue moon you might see a shakedown for a plea bargain, but not enough to give a shit.

Huh.

Attached: 1422043432647.jpg (450x525, 41.06K)

No, he's correct, regulating forces are by definition not the free market

I thought Steam had a 100% tolerence policy for VNs and other horny shit? As long as it was legal, of course.

Attached: 1588147874162.png (1200x1200, 974.85K)

Good. Fuck vn's and fuck weeb trash. I'm tired of having to sift through the swamp that is Steam to try to find decent games. All weeb garbage should be completely removed or at the very least separated from actual games, kind of like the film or programs section.

But Steam isn't a monopoly so why worry. Your game will sell just as well on some derelict indie shithole :)

Kill yourselves Steam and Steiner

They're wishy-washy in terms of what is allowed. School settings and uniforms are apparently especially scrutinized.

They'll never fully allow stuff like loli/shota, though. That's a PR nightmare waiting to happen.

valve isnt exactly the best at consistent decision making

fuck this gay shit

Attached: 1588049028275.jpg (800x1000, 250.52K)

I really don't get it though, do they think the platform having adult content will make parents prohibit their children for using it? IMO most parents couldn't give less of a shit and even if they did they wouldn't even know what to do about it

gaben is a goy, he baits vn fags and betrays them afterwards

It was never on Steam in the first place.

>especially if a kid might be buying them.
Which is not going to happen on Steam since the content is age-gated.

>Also loli is legal in the US. Loli can only be prosecuted as obscenity
>loli is legal except for how it isn't legal
Just because people aren't actively hunted down for it doesn't make it legal, dumbass.

It reduces the load on their servers, so probably nothing.

A big part of it is the high rate of chargebacks on just about any and every adult market. Mangagamer is a topical example, a few years back they got hit with so many chargebacks they were kicked off their payment processing service.

>payment processors HATE adult content
No, the payment processors and banks don't care about adult content. It is the credit card companies like Visa and Mastercard that put all these restrictions. They say anything porn related will cause chargebacks so they charge you money each year or just restrict you.

>people defending campo santos bullshit yet again because muh quality control

That was because they were offering Steam keys with purchases, that they then stopped doing. They've been struggling with payment processors in general though since they offer the most extreme content of any eroge localiser.

noo user stop, the steam q-quality control is the best

Attached: whatwentwrongwithnuvalve.jpg (584x2334, 307.17K)

That's because Steam is a platform for games. Not story books.

>payment processors and banks don’t care
Why does PayPal prevent you from buying/selling porn then?

tell that to all those walking simulators

>They'll never fully allow stuff like loli/shota
Evenicle is still being sold to this day

Loli is just as legal as pornography in general. The part in that PROTECT act that you keep referencing was ruled as unconstitutional. Doesn't mean you'll never see a rogue prosecutor chart the obscenity waters on occasion

Absolutely based.

BASED AF

>Why does PayPal prevent you from buying/selling porn then?
Because if they get cough with too many adult sellers, the banks will drop them. The reason the banks will drop them is because Visa and Mastercard will charge the banks lots of money for allowing "high risk" (as in porn) payments to happen.

I've looked into doing porn games only to find out how expensive and limiting it is. Credit card companies treat you like shit and it all floats down hill so every advertising company wants nothing to do with you.

Wouldn't surprise me if gay and/or furry shit remain unaffected by Valve's constant policy changes.

so the firewatch guys were put in charge of censoring steam?

>games store no longer sells non-games

>Loli is just as legal as pornography in general.
Except for the part where it's considered obscene as CP.
>The part in that PROTECT act that you keep referencing was ruled as unconstitutional.
Shit that never happened. What you're actually mixing this up with (and what you faggots always mix this up with) is Ashcroft v. Free Speech Coalition resulted in parts of the CPPA being ruled unconstitutional in 2002, only for the PROTECT act to then be introduced in 2003 and override that, making it illegal again.
> Doesn't mean you'll never see a rogue prosecutor chart the obscenity waters on occasion
Yes, prosecutors are clearly known for regularly prosecuting people for things that aren't actually illegal.

Attached: 1549593972007.png (2404x954, 1.68M)

Hi from Reddit! This is the fault of Winnie The Xi! He's censoring great videogames and oppressing hong kong protestors. Free taiwan!

>Loli is just as legal as pornography in general.
Not in the rest of the world. In particular in canda, france and the EU in general it is legally considered real CP. Shadman for example used to be a swiss citizen and the only reason he wasn't put into prison on the spot was that it was considered parody/satire, which along side of journalistic purposes is the only reason it can be exempt. Afterwards he fled the country.

Here's a guy who was jailed in canda for this wallpaper
youtube.com/watch?v=ltdgSEPPCZs&feature=youtu.be&t=90

It's honestly this. It's not about getting the games on Steam, it's about getting the games on Steam in a form that's cut down enough that they can be sold to China. This is also why Kagura Games doesn't show any explicit content on their website where the patch has to be downloaded from.

VNs aren't games and coomer VNs are absolutely pathetic. Imagine not only PAYING for that shit but then showing all your friends that you're jerking off to that shit.

>game still allowed to be sold
>just have to download a semi-official patch
idk man, sounds pretty based to me

Lol no it's about US censorship. Steam games aren't even officially licensed in China. It's already technically grey market.

obscenity laws are usually never enforced, desu.

Valve doesn't care about it being illegal in the rest of the world, and it doesn't really matter. Valve cares about it being illegal in Washington, which is where they're based. If they were based in Oregon or Georgia instead, which both have explicit protections for obscene material as free speech, there wouldn't be anything to consider.

Kagura Games said themselves that's why they do it, and while it's a grey market it's still a profitable one.

There are no real confirmations but there is clear internal disagreement on this matter and it seems extremely likely a lot of this disagreement comes from the campo santo hires not gelling with the other employees

>Just because people aren't actively hunted down for it doesn't make it legal, dumbass.

When you have brain damage and blame Xi for amerifat bans on lewd content. >>>Reddit

>Kagura Games said themselves that's why they do it, and while it's a grey market it's still a profitable one.

They're straight up lying then or they are soothing your feelings. Steam games aren't regulated in China, they don't go through the approval and licensing processes.

also that whorley guy was already on federal probation for actual cp.

Isn't it just that porn is illegal in china?

The rules are no penetration and no erect penises
I remember this well because I read it in a review in empire magazine of the first 3d porn film

Okay, then how do you explain the US rejecting that UN "child exploitation" treaty not too long ago specifically because the ban on lolicon would be a 1st amendment issue?

Yes, that's true, but he was convicted purely over having drawings despite his appeals to it being unconstitutional nonetheless.
It's not like there's been several people convicted purely for having drawings with no record of actual CP or anything.

You're going to need to provide me a source on this.

It is but people don't really understand what illegal or "bans" mean. It means that content cannot be distributed or sold through regulated channels without a license. But actually they usually are anyway, especially physical copies. And Steam isn't regulated so every game on there is not licensed. In the future, Steam might have to make a CN storefront and steam users in China will have to use a VPN, but that is not the case today, and Chinese devs usually publish games on steam because they don't have to have their games licensed like they do to put them on mobile stores.

>coomer VNs
Why would anyone care

>can currently buy movies and music on Steam
That's just not true user.

nichegamer.com/2019/06/03/us-and-japan-reject-united-nations-proposal-to-ban-various-forms-of-anime-manga-and-games/

>the doddler
that's like calling yourself the morderer

I think he also actually had actual cp that time too.
I think there's one guy who that applies to, but that was also in Iowa.

Good. Fuck those shitty games

Steam is actually a really good place to buy music because there is no drm or anything, you just download a folder full of mp3s that you can do anything with
that's the new system though, a lot of games still work on an old system where you have to have the game downloaded to download the ost, not sure how it works once downloaded though.

doddles had a hard life

Attached: doddlersmagicaladventure.jpg (628x852, 398.23K)

then why is half-life 2 on there? it's a "cinematic experience," not a game.

>The law came under scrutiny from some nations. While the law would be used to enforce the restriction child prostitution and media depicting sexually exploited children, they feared its terminology around the latter would be too vague.
>This could result in the prosecuting of individuals not engaged in creating or viewing such material (i.e. child characters not in sexually explicit activity, or characters in sexually explicit activity that were not children).

>“Paragraph 62: “… urges States parties to prohibit, by law, child sexual abuse material in any form …. including when such material represents realistic representations of non-existing children.”
>In the United States, federal law provides that it is illegal to create, possess, or distribute a visual depiction of any kind, including a drawing, cartoon, sculpture or painting, that depicts a minor engaging in sexually explicit conduct and is obscene. However, visual depictions (CGI, anime, etc.) where there is not a “real” child are typically protected by the First Amendment (unless the visual depictions are obscene) and the United States’ obligations under the ICCPR. We suggest editing the paragraph as follows: “… urges States parties to prohibit, by law, consistent with their national legal systems, child sexual abuse material in any form …. including when such material represents realistic representations of non-existing children.”

Did you even read your own link?

Attached: un btfo.png (742x203, 21.48K)

good, hope they all get axed lol

How about they ban the shovelware instead

What was the drawing? Is Canada really like this?

>I think he also actually had actual cp that time too.
He did not.
>I think there's one guy who that applies to, but that was also in Iowa.
There are at least four. Christian Bee, Ryan Bowersox, Blake Taylor, and of course Christopher Handley. None of them had any actual CP or any history of actual CP. Bee was reported by his wife, Bowersox and Taylor were both reported by coworkers, Handley was caught when importing eromanga. Handley plead guilty after his lawyer reasoned that the jury would find the content obscene when presented with it, Bee took a plea deal, Bowersox and Taylor both plead not guilty and lost.
>S-So they were all reported and not hunted down!
Once again, it not being actively hunted down does not make it illegal.

>Did you even read your own link?
>However, visual depictions (CGI, anime, etc.) where there is not a “real” child are typically protected by the First Amendment (unless the visual depictions are obscene) and the United States’ obligations under the ICCPR
Did you?

>(unless the visual depictions are obscene)
Which is what every single loli prosecution case is based on and which none have ever successfully challenged.

Attached: 1308477303356.png (300x300, 14.38K)

I don't like RPGmaker shovelware but it should be allowed on Steam.

I don't recall he ever said. But yes, Canada is a mad world.

Attached: doddlersmagicaladventure2.jpg (469x1279, 259.16K)

Probably the Puni Ana DX.

exactly. Is "Showering with your Dad simulator" still on steam? Filtering indietrash from the store was the best steam decision i ever made

Peddle your smut elsewhere, you worms.

he's kind of cool desu

Attached: dwight whorley based.jpg (885x387, 146.56K)

loli is not automatic obscenity no matter how loud you screech

>Order a small onahole for your small dick
>Box comes with a picture of a naked small girl on it
>Get arrested for CP
Fucking kek this dude can't catch a break

That means they-ll remove Comign out on Top and Dream daddy?

"Whorley was also previously convicted of offenses in connection with pornographic depictions of real children."
Known CP guy tried to download those "obscene" images on Virginia Employment Commission computers, hence why he got fucked. Now Christopher Handley got a similar fucking, but he had no CP history, and the government decided to give him a plea deal which he took for 6 months of jail time. Why? "Both prosecutors and defense attorneys noted that the plea deal was due to the high risk of a constitutional challenge, and the federal government agreed that Handley would not be required to register as a sex offender"

Literally, if this ever gets taken all the way to the supreme court, there's a good chance it might get the rule wiped out and the government doesn't want that. So they will offer plea deals, unless you have a history of CP possession.

Because “visual novels” should be illegal and anyone who tries to sell them for money should be arrested. They are worthless garbage. Telltale games deserved to collapse

"Loli" is not. Loli porn is, and demonstrably has been according to every court case it's ever come up in. I don't understand why you people are so eager to challenge the reality of the situation to claim it's perfectly legal when it clearly isn't. At best you have the aforementioned states that don't criminalise obscene content, and Fakku chose to operate out of Oregon exactly for that reason.

>Literally, if this ever gets taken all the way to the supreme court, there's a good chance it might get the rule wiped out and the government doesn't want that.
That's a nice supposition and all but until that happens it remains illegal. And once again, it not being actively hunted down does not make it legal.

so in short fuck puritans and their assbackward mental retardation

>At best you have the aforementioned states that don't criminalise obscene content, and Fakku chose to operate out of Oregon exactly for that reason.
Still doesn't protect you from federal prosecution. So why hasn't the feds gone after fakku yet over maitetsu?

Fakku is based in the US? I thought all hentai sites had to go overseas so they don't trigger antiloli laws in most of the western world?

I need context for this

>steam haters whine and cry about adult games on the platform
>"Look at all this coomer shit, it's just low effort trash porn, this is why steam is bad"

>steam decides to clean up the coomer games precisely like the haters wanted
>"Look at this unfair moderation, porn games are games too, this is why steam is bad"

Why would you ever take someone like OP seriously.

Yeah until your favorite thing is next on the chopping block.
And then you'll of course be stumped as to why this would happen only for another faggot like you to waltz in and to lick the boot again only for the cycle to repeat with him.

You fucks never learn.

We unironically need buttcoin to succeed and become a recognized form of currency.
Decentralisation will finally remove the shackles of fucky credit card company prudes.
