Just started Playing P2 and it’s pretty neat. Why was the sequel psp game never released here? Is the original PS1 version a lot worse?

Because Atlus USA is run by a bunch of clowns since the 90s.

because the sequel bombed in japan hard and atlus usa didn't wanna take risks
>Is the original PS1 version a lot worse?
not at all
the menus are less visual (you can't see a persona compatibility or weakness in icons, for example), the VA is garbage for some characters (Maya, Eli), some transitions are slower, etc

ps1 ep is still pretty good
maya's voice actress can be grating

I played it recently and loved it, but when I tried playing the psx version of EP my psx emulator started giving me problems (slowdown on menus and constant crashes) , do you guys know any fix for that?
I'm using retroarch

Also what the fuck are all these random words Lisa says

>using retroarch

that's your problem use mednefan

Cantonese. Did you miss the part she says she likes kung fu and that shit?

i used a version of psx about as old as you are and ran it fine
cantonese

Is there a way to transfer the saved data from Retroarch to mednafen?

>p1 and p2EP and IS will never be ported to anything beyond the psp stuck being forgotten again

they should use the same file type for saves so yeah just drag and drop it between folders

Oh then I'll give it a try, thx user.

Keep in mind Mednafen is the most accurate PS1 emulator so it's one of the most demanding

So what exactly is the difference between Persona and SMT?
One is a spinoff of the other, right? Only experience I have with them is playing a few hours of Persona 3 on PSP several years ago.

I recently used Mednafen to play Sakura Wars on the Saturn and it didn't give me any problems at all, but maybe psx emulation demands more idk, but I'll give it a try.

First off Persona 3 on the PSP is fucking awful the only good version is Persona 3 FES on the PS2

Second originally really nothing just different gameplay but now because of Persona 3 the difference is rather then being a JRPG dungeon crawler with an aliment system (SMT) it's a JRPG dungeon crawler with a social system to where you balance every day life with dungeon crawling, with the every day life portion aiding the dungeon crawling segment via unlocking new Personas and buying items

Persona is a spin-off.

SMT uses the same demons (personas); except they're your party members. You have a main character and three other demons that fight along side you. SMT also doesn't have social links etc.

SMT is a spinoff of MT and Persona is a spinoff of SMT

the timeline for Persona is:

SMT: Raidou 1&2>SMT if..>P1>P2>P3FES>P4G>P5R with all the spinoffs inbetween and maybe Devil Summoner being in there somewhere

SMT is a dungeon crawler, Persona is a friendship simulator with some dungeon crawling

I loved P2, IS was way too easy, EP was actually pretty goddamn hard for a jrpg.

play nocturne

>Why was the sequel psp game never released here?
don't worry there is a translator working youtube.com/watch?v=PFl4QKl0WSE

>Why was the sequel psp game never released here?
Because Atlus JP, yes the Japanese branch is unbelievably retarded, didn't see it as "profitable enough" despite Atlus USA saying that they would've been more than happy to work on localizing game.
