What does Zig Forums think of this?

been fucking addicted to this thing for days now and I'm not entirely sure if it's even that good. It really flew under the radar at release, what with fallout 4 and mgsV, so I wonder if any of you guys have played it

Repetitive as fuck and enemies could've had more variety but its a solid 7/10

>addicted but not sure if it's good
I haven't seen anyone more accurately describe the experience this game brings.

Combat was just Batman Arkham so thats ok.
The Driving is really the only good thing i really remember from the game

The story is stupid, and the gameplay is repetitive. It's pretty solid though.

There are signs here and there that the devs really cared about making a good game but got bogged down in corporate meddling

Its an amazing game for one playthrough

I liked it but got bored of it quick. Didn't really introduce anything new after the first hour. Really nice visuals though, and actually did the scarcity of ammo/food thing pretty well. Maybe I'll boot it up again and give it a go.

I liked it. Hunchback is annoying though.

Most solid punches in video games.
Seriously. It sounds, looks and moves like you're breaking someone's arm in it.

fun and enjoyable but endgame was shit. the worlds best car and nothing to use it on. would be nice if there was newgame+ or a mod to repopulate the world.

fun game but suffers the trend of all avalanche studio games

Competently made open-world sandbox with some really cool locations that's just oozing with atmosphere, only let down by its kinda generic gameplay. But to be fair, why change what works?

Couldnt finish it because busy at the time but i remember it was fun. The driving specialy. I didnt try online.

The core gameplay is good, the desert environments are generally well made. The serious lack of Aussie accents was a problem that never got better. And the gameplay is far too repetitive. Decent story though, just drug out too long.

non respawning convoys kills the replayability

I 100 percented this game and know it like the back of my hand. However, I'm not about to heap massive amounts of praise on it. Ask me anything you'd like and I'll answer it to the best of my memory. Just off the top of my head I'll highlight some pros and cons
Pros
>The car customization is extensive. One thing to note is that the game doesn't tell you that the heavier gear will lower your car and make it drive slower. Armor and rams aren't direct upgrades!
>Max's options for taking desert scum out are varied enough to stay interesting. Harpoon gun, shotgun, grinding, ramming, explosives, sniping. Getting the other cars and using their gimmicks. Good stuff
>Melee is alright. There's a "secret" heavy attack you get from holding punch down. USE IT! Shotgun is a must for later forts so get those reload upgrades for your bases.
>The Crow Gang is spooky and very original. Closest the game comes to being like the second and third movie.
>Your Igor assistant is a bro.
Cons
>The main gang is boring both thematically and in tactics. War Boys are bland as shit. Makes even the generic raiders you take on later seem like breath of fresh air despite also being generic.
>Specialty cars don't have the harpoon. That's bad.
>Walking across the desert with just your wits and shotgun isn't a cool as if could have been. You'll almost never be without gas.
>Bases get some nice personality, but not until they're extensively leveled up. SOME HAVE ENDINGS!!! Be sure to complete their quest lines so you don't miss them.
>The Magnum Opposes dependency on armor sucks cock. Especially after feeling how much better it drives and looks without the ugly shit glued onto it.
>Main villain isn't featured enough despite being the equivalent of Ork Warboss from 40k
>Game in general doesn't feel enough like Mad Max. The female helper in the race you get later on is very lame.
>Mel Gibson's likeness is nowhere to be found in this game. You can get "close," but not close enough

Play RAGE 2, made by the same guys and it has way better shooting but not as good car combat

I thought it was a well polished 'okay' game. Good for killing time while listening to podcasts. Some of the insignias are a real pain in the ass to find. It's pretty telling if you search on youtube for a walkthrough for one of the bases and the top comment says, "The one your missing is at [time code]."

Funny, I've been replaying it recently too. I feel pretty lukewarm towards it, it's fun and there's a lot to do, but it doesn't break any new ground. Nothing will ever surprise you, but it manages to be entertaining anyway

It was alright.

>Be American
>Keep getting into the car through the left hand side out of habit
>Hunchback asks why the fuck I keep getting in through the wrong side

Nevermind, it's a fucking 10/10.

It tells you via the stats of the car. Adding armor literally drops a bar for Handling and Acceleration.

One question is, is there ever a reason not to use the Magnum Opus? Even the OG car you get after finishing the game doesn't stack up.

Achievement whore here, hate this game because it does the same shit AssCreed 2 does where it gives you most of the cheevos just for playing and you think “oh guess this will be an easy 100%” then you find out you have to clear everything in the game you skipped for the last one.

>It tells you via the stats of the car. Adding armor literally drops a bar for Handling and Acceleration.
Yeah, but what that actually does isn't notable until you compare and contrast what driving the vehicle is like. Also, you're never told about how awesome a fully jacked up suspension is without bullshit weight you down.
>One question is, is there ever a reason not to use the Magnum Opus?
Yes, many of the gang cars and special cars you can find have unique powers. The crow cars have super grinders that can destroy any vehicle with little effort. Several of the monster trucks have super turbo boost that far outstrip any upgrade you can get. They also have heavier duty armor while maintaining your ability to drive and handle like a normal vehicle. There's also special rear, forward, and super powered flame throwers and mines!!!

Loved that detail because it made my father livid when it kept happening to him.

>no Twisted Metal arena
>just a bunch of dumb races
How do you fuck up this hard
>durr just fight people in the over world
They stop respawning as you clear area
Game really needed at least a NG+ mode

...I don't get your logic. It's literally "Acceleration" and "Handling." What more could the game tell you? The game does talk about armor adding weight.

I finished the store but never really bothered with the extra stuff outside of grinding out my stats. I recently reinstalled and was planning on finishing up 100% soon.

>...I don't get your logic. It's literally "Acceleration" and "Handling." What more could the game tell you? The game does talk about armor adding weight.
Your car's suspension is directly lowered and its speed, handling, and actual physical attributes are changed like how far it can fall without being damaged. It's a ton of shit you're not told about. Worse, the heavier armor is needed to remain competitive against later vehicles and there's no way to maintain a normal driving car and also have the top armor and ramming abilities. I eventually said fuck it and simply stripped all the the armor and rams off my vehicle and simply relied on the harpoon, shotgun, and rockets.

Amazing game but it’s biggest fault is not having a New Game + or something. Once you finish the game there’s fuck all to do with the stuff you’ve unlocked. Great for a play through but it has shit all for replayability

>You could find Cranky Frank hidden in that secret Buzzard lair
>It's functionally just a reskinned Mancannon and can't be saved
>Returning it to your garage just unlocks the standard mancannon
Not gonna lie, I was a little upset.

Absolutely this.

The game is amazing for fans of the franchise. The atmosphere is beautiful.

Unfortunately, it turns into even more of a barren wasteland when you run through the convoys. They should've developed a respawn for the convoys or made it a random triggered event like the storms.
