Play a good RTS instead. SMT games are trash.

I just got it the other day. Found it at Target for $20. Saw it at amazon for $50 so I went for it. I don't have a working 3DS so I can't answer. I have to wait for stores to restock, which could be a few.

It's up there but not that redone faggy generic soulless version.

Cringe

The redux content sticks out like a sore thumb, and I think SJ's combat and fusion systems are inferior to IV/IV:A. It definitely has the best dungeon design though.

Purse owner faggot detected

an actual Personanigger wouldn't even know what an RTS is

Holy shit I fucking hated sector E and G so much.

Who was the fucking retard at ATLUS who thought that Warp puzzles + Stair puzzles + one way door puzzles + pitfall was fun in the fucking slightest?

It took me 11 fucking hours to beat that shit, at least I cheesed the retard boss in 3 minutes with makarakarn.

All of those have much worse dungeon design, hell DeSu doesn't even have dungeon crawling at all (which makes people who recommend it as a good starting point into the franchise really dumb).

NOTHING WRONG
Grus was shit though

kek every time I tried using Makarakarn El Infinito Snake would use Disaster Cycle so I couldn't reflect it. The cunning wench.

>hell DeSu doesn't even have dungeon crawling at all
Almost like we're looking at the entire MT franchise so the titles that aren't dedicated dungeon crawlers are now in the same competition as the ones that are. SJ's/Redux's combat is a decent baseline but otherwise less engaging and involving than the titles I mentioned save Soul Hackers. It's story is also a solid baseline but loses out to a lot with Redux because of the Future Yukiko nonsense, casualised sub-apps, and the new endings actually being worse than the original ones from the NDS version. Characters are again, decent but not even the best Law/Chaos heroes in the franchise. Arthur and Gore however are probably one of, if not the best neutral reps of the titles that have such a setup. Dungeon layout is some really good stuff for the first person dungeon crawling entries. I would disagree with you that DDS doesn't have good dungeons but it's focused on the 3D school of dungeon design which has some different standards than grid-based designs.

All in all, I love the original SJ. It was my first MegaTen game and I have a lot of love for it. But both the original, and redux are not the best in the franchise. OG SJ however is a very solid title but I've played better entries.

Holy fuck, you are fucking fake SMT fags. It's fucking easy to know you played a Persona game before, even SMT 4/Apocalypse. Get the fuck out and go play weeb shit that appeals to your faggot kind like coldsteel

What's the best smt game?

I liked IV the most.

Nocturne

Redux was garbage compared to the original

Why you mad, bro? Only fags throw 'stop liking things I hate' fits.

Kill yourself

I only played the ones released on Nintendo systems, so I never played Persona. Unless you count Tokyo Mirage Sessions, that's the only SMT I haven't beat because of the idolshit.

Right game, wrong version.

Strange Journey (DS)
Soul hackers
SMY IV:A

It's SMT 2 good? Whats the best way to play it?

Yeah, IV was great. The twist once you defeat Medusa and enter Tokyo for the first time left a lasting impression on me that other games fail to replicate. Especially when the music kicked in you really get this sense that you just wandered somewhere you really shouldn't be.

Not to mention SMT IV was the first game I've ever played where you can interact with your enemy. Negotiations were a fresh and novel concept. I loved all the different dialogues depending on the demon race and what your luck stat was.

The combat itself is fun too for a turn based JRPG. Press Turn is nothing short of satisfying.

I wish all games had unique death animations dependent on how you kill the monsters. It's so fucking cool watching your enemies burn to a crisp with Agi or blasting holes through them with gun skills. Man, IV is a fucking awesome game, you're right.

Based.

Strange Journey Redux is great, but its not the best. Also, why is impossible difficulty easier than expert?

>It's SMT 2 good?
Yes
>Whats the best way to play it?
Your options are emulation or learning japanese and getting a super famicom copy of the game. Head over to the general on /vg/ and get the Orden patched version from the OP.

I personally liked
>MT2
>SMT2
>Soul Hackers
>SJ
the most

snes emulator or 3ds VC, i used the virtual console on my 3ds to play it and it worked well

Gonna boot this game up again for NG+ and try to 100 percent it. How long do you think it takes for a speedrun of the game to get all the endings?

I fucking love how weirdly human the enemies sound. It sounds like shit I would pull on my friends.

Oh and I mean per ending, not all of them total.

It goes to shit after sector E and even then sector B is complete shit. The ending fucking sucks too.
