It’s a VN with short platforming sections but I like it.

It's not bad. I don't think it deserved it's critiscm because it's not TTYD 2.

The last good paper mario

Story was ridiculous and I loved it

gonna leave this here

I thought this was a sequel to TTYD so I even bought a wii when it released but then I saw the gameplay and was massively disappointed
Then I played more and it actually pretty good desu

it deserved criticism for other reasons.
SPM isn't bad because it's a platformer and not an RPG, it's bad because it's a bad platformer.

Cutscenes were way too long

I hated it at first but it has its charm

It's interesting but it's no Paper Mario 64. I feel like this series just sort of dipped with each game.

Wasn't this for Sticker Star?

It's a miracle even Odyssey got to exist instead of 3D World 2.

the only thing I really hated was switching to Mario for 3D flipping. Should have let everyone flip and given Mario the hammer. Besides that, It's a fucking beautiful bastard of a game

part of me wishes that this game got a sequel like how pm got ttyd and ss got cs because i think the platformer and rpg mixed gameplay has a lot of potential.

It has RE4 Syndrome. It's a great game that changes the formula of the series causing the following games to branch further away and be bad.

Miyamoto needs to fuck off

we never got to see her true form lads...

Nothing he said was wrong. RPGs don't have to be story driven.

incoming Miyamoto dicksuckers

>be me
>completely fucking stupid
>actually earning rupees on chapter 2-2
>didn't know the vault existed
>getting tired
>taped down wiimote so the hamster wheel would keep going
>wake up next morning
>not enough
>quit
it took me a solid fucking month to figure out what to do.

Feel like people would have appreciated it more if the lore about the ancient dudes wasn't based entirely on a nod to a random NPC type from Mario RPG.

It's actually my favorite PM game. My first was TTYD and I like the all of the original trinity.
But what I like about SPM was that it wasn't a god damn JRPG.
It hurts that there aren't any other games like this. I would LOVE to play an indie game that was a platformer/rpg hybrid like SPM.

These rules could easily be met and still end up with a good game. There are tons of super mario characters that are underutilized. Paper mario 64 only used mario characters. TTYD introduced maybe 1 or 2 original characters. Contrary to popular belief, characters can wear hats. Tanabe is a shitty director, dkc returns and tropical freeze are good games in spite of him, and would have been even better without him. He gets offloaded to tertiary projects for a reason.

His comments were in regards to the autism that was super paper mario, which had 95% original characters and was a borderline visual novel. Sticker star is a bad game because tanabe makes bad gamed.

Jesus, how retarded were you

i want to say "completely retarded" but i feel even thats too little.

I liked the concept the first few hours, but it eventually got tedious switching dimensions with that delay and sound effect. the story and characters was not as charming and captivating as the past games either, so I ended up not liking it very much.

>which had 95% original characters and was a borderline visual novel

I'd rather have some of this from a spinoff than everything be a NSMB clone.

Sticker star was bad because tanabe makes bad games. The only thing stopping us from getting a proper paper mario game was mismanagement.

This.

I hate how Miyamoto has a hard on for westerners and generally lets them do whatever they want (Rabbids, Luigi's Mansion 3) but anything domestic the yardstick gets brought out.
