I bet any mixed genre game can be good if done right.

Even a horror racing game?

Most survival horror games require planning, so yeah.

good question

define "racing". you could definitely do something face paced that requires precise timing with a horror atmosphere. it doesn't necessarily need to be a BING BING WAHOO kart racer.

Sure yo u just gotta figure out how that would be fun.
I guess in a horror racing game you'd be driving away from something like a bunch of undead horsemen.

Or have a lot of bobby traps idk.

Someone can make that into something, for sure.

>HAHA GUYS I DISSECTED IT, YOU DON'T PHASE ME.
not them but you're missing their point completely. knowledge of how things work ruins the terror, you just demonstrated how. the gif being there and doing nothing makes people anxious.

I think there's a horror game in the works where you basically drive a car all the time. Could be Russian, I don't recall. Plus remember all those creepy gifs/pictures with people driving at night and some spooky shit suddenly popping up.

In fact it fucking writes itself. You've a bunch of hicks in the countryside gathered up for some nighttime racing in their mustangs because there's fuckall to do in the sticks and the roads are all empty. They do a couple runs, gather up again for some post-race beer, except one guy's missing. A fucking classic scenario.

am I just supposed to wait for something to happen then

>am I just supposed to wait for something to happen then
Doesn't take a genius to understand after a dozen seconds that nothing is going to happen. The tension of something happening is enough by itself.

Yep, game's called "Beware"

This is fun but only for a few minutes.
It'd be cool if this was a mechanic of a game rather than just a game, imagine a horror game where you had to travel to places and depending on certain conditions you can choose between walking or driving, but driving has its own risks. Add a time element to it to force a decision.

slow-burn bone-chilling horror?

True fear is literally impossible to be evoked by videogames until we can simulate consequence, physical or otherwise. And then we come face to face with the ethical implications of such things.

Explain then why I shit my pants playing literally ANY horror game and many non-horror ones like Thief 3, SS2, and VTMB.

That's not true fear, you are not actually afraid for your safety. You can suspend your disbelief to be disturbed and even scared by things in videogames, but none of them can actually make you fear for your life.

it happened behind you

Twisted Metal Black sort of counts.

Was the artist for this ever found?
