Nah

It's a mystery game that decides it's too good to be a mystery game halfway through after it's introduced 3 times as many characters as it started with for a story that was supposed to take place on a remote island cut off from the mainland.

if you are willing to read 130+ hour long mystery story, then yes. has amazing character writing and a very interesting premise/plot. also get the ps3 character picture mod when you get it, the steam version looks horrendous.

George is a fatfuck

>130+ hour long mystery story
Yeah I'm good lmfao.

OH DESIRE

What every user said above but you should at least listen to the soundtrack.

Read Higurashi first

No, it's fucking shit. Go read any other entry level VN instead, this one is barely even a "game" so you shouldn't be posting it on Zig Forums.

>has amazing character writing
Good one

>has amazing character writing and a very interesting premise/plot

Stop giving volvo 30% of your every game purchase. Game is on alternative distribution platforms.

Read Dies irae instead.

It's at least 100 hours long and literally nothing at all happens during the first 10-15 hours. Even as far as VN"s go Umineko is one of the slowest burns and most people don't finish it.

If you're fine with that, sure knock yourself out.

It's great but most people get filtered by it.

it's an experience if nothing else, even getting some spoilers I was still consistently entertained. Also do like said and get the mods that add in the voices and ps3 sprites unless you're going to use the original

Can I get it that cheap on an alternate platform? I am pretty well hovering over the buy button on steam right now.

It's an amazing mystery novel for true intellectuals. Great way to spend 120+ hours of your time.

It's okay but way too long. Why do VNs have these absurd lengths? You could get through all 3 of Kant's critiques before you even finish something like umineko because they're so ridiculously long.

Three things you need to know about it
It's very long, incredibly long and long winded and almost every single part starts off very slowly and builds up to a crescendo near the end so a lot of the time you go from the end of one part, let's say part 3 for example where a lot of stuff is happening to the beginning of part 4 where nothing happens and you have to deal with the adventures of some kid dealing with her bullies.
It gives up on the murder mystery halfway through, there's still some mystery to it but it's different. The stakes are different, the context around the murders are different. It becomes less about a fight for survival and more about uncovering the truth behind why everything is happening and other autistic shit. It doesn't get worse it just becomes way different halfway through.
Don't try to solve any of the mysteries yourself because almost all of them (besides a few) are reliant on you knowing information that you COULD NOT POSSIBLY KNOW at the time.
Don't try to solve the epitaph either you need a specific taiwanese atlas that doesn't even exist and knowledge of the japanese language and the existence of a sign on the island that is to my knowledge never mentioned in the story until the epitaph is solved anyway

I am giving it 5 more minutes before I hit that mofuckin buy button

It was an episodic doujin work originally. It was 8 episodes and each was sold separately and had to be "worth it", hence the stupidly inflated word count.

Seems like it's a bit cheaper on mangagamer

cute and funny

go to sukebei nyaa and download the non-steam version without paying a shitload of money for it. Witch hunt translation is serviceable.
People will tell you to use original sprites or PS3 sprites + voices/CGs but go with your heart. I will say that some of the VAs do a really good job like Erika and Eva and make it worth it

Yeah, just use the PS3 graphics and voice patch, if you dislike them you can turn them off.

Well I went to go buy it there but then I noticed they were acting like fags about somebody calling them out on a shitty politically charged translation so they can go fuck themselves, enjoy the money gabe don't buy too many burgers with it.

>most people have taste and ditch it

Are there good closed murder mystery whodunit VNs outside of Umineko, Higurashi, Danganronpa, Zero Escape?

your turn to die

They are getting your money anyway, just a little bit less.
Also if you are one of those people who think sjw are here to get you with their political views, you might want to stay away from ryukishi's stuff.

Somebody should do a porn parody of this game,

You might try Uchikoshi's earlier works like Ever 17 and Remember 11. Basically same deal as Zero Escape but even more trope-y. You might enjoy them if you're still young and easily impressionable.

Not really a murder mystery, but I had Higurashi vibes from this one.

It is really cheap and worth giving a try.

I can already tell it's trash, no thanks. Probably has a fuckton of ellipses too lmao.

I hate sjws but I am also a globalist socialist who believes in open borders, about the only major view I share in common with Zig Forums is a hatred of Jews.

You should watch the full 26 episode anime first.

Yes, but get the ps3 sprites mod so you get actual characters that don't look like mexicans
