based, fuck valve
honestly a higher refreshrate quest would make the Rift S completely obsolete. Perfect for them to focus production on one device.
but I can already run all the games this thing can run but at 144hz on my index and with much, much better visual quality, so what's the point?
>unironically installing facebook spyware in ring 0.

??????????
>valve
>1000$ headset with shitty quality assurance
>good guys
>valve
>strives for the best possible components
>single-handedly doubles the market with 1 title release which blows away anything VR ever had
>facebook

>no titles
>fuck valve
Are you autistic?
>supports oculus link
I wonder if they'll double down on the retarded usb slot.
>strives for the best possible components
>shitty quality assurance
bruh they replace anything no questions asked
Because the index is $1,000 and also perpetually tethered to a wire.if you live in a cuck shed with no room to move around with I guess the index is okay, but free movementis superior to whatever nominal picture and tracking quality increase you'll get on the index.
>has to catch up despite pioneering the industry
>literally made inside-out on par with outside-in tracking
there is nothing impressive about the tech inside the valve index beyond pure specs
very epic, i wonder what happens when the controllers go outside the headset's tracking.
>very epic, i wonder what happens when the controllers go outside the headset's tracking.
perfectly accurate IMUs for 3 seconds, its literally impossible to lose tracking during normal play
>because the index is 1000$
okay?
well a pc costs a lot more money than a console, do you only stick to console then?
>wire
get a job and get a real place and this isn't a problem anymore
also;
>free movement is superior to picture and tracking quality
t. wmr user
Reminder that valve made a moba because league was doing well, a card game because hearthstone was doing well, added microtransactions to all of their first person shooters, and dug up a IP that's been dead for 16 years to sell a tame as hell VR game to sell their headsets. But do go on about how valve is not Jewish.
amazing, still wouldn't want Facebook software running in the background 24/7.
>tame as hell
>single-handledly more than doubled the install base of VR headsets
retard
>brags about controller-free movement recognition
>"but what happens when you are outside of tracking zone"
>posts a video with controllers in his hand
Son, you are fucking retarded.
redpill me on the different Oculus models
>trusting facebook
ultrakek.
It is literally a game designed for new VR users though. That doesn't mean the game itself isn't tame as hell. It's criminal the amount of content that was cut in order to appease their braindead playtesters who can't play a game if it goes too fast or has enemies that are too hard. Are you seriously going to pretend like the game would have done a fucking fifth as well as it did if it wasn't bearing the Half-Life title?
don't get anything from oculus yet
wait for rift 2, will have those variable focus lenses which will most likely be a complete game changer
tho after that you could wait some more and get a headset that isn't made by facebook, but that's on you
Go is worthless, quest is wireless, rift s is PC only
I can always sell it i guess if something better !Oculus comes out
so Go no.
Wireless is good but there's probably a catch no?
>it could've been even better so it's shit
that's your usual Zig Forums argument in a nutshell (not a good one), this is mgs5 all over again
what alyx brought to the table is much more than just this and you're just a contrarian faggot, also it doesn't change anything about his point, at the end of the day, it is alyx that did all of this, whether it's mainly due to the half life logo or not is irrelevant
I've been on the fence about getting a VR headset, but I think when this comes out I'll finally bite the bullet and pick one up.
its fairly low refresh rate and uncomfortable but its an okay headset if you mod the headstrap
>CV1
Quality solid VR headset with semi-good tracking that could compare for the slightly lower pricerange below the vive and had the best controllers at that time.
>Quest, Rift S, Quest 2, Oculus Go
Shitty downgraded versions of the CV1. Not OLED anymore, no physical IPD adjustment, no proper tracking anymore now has inside-out camera tracking that is shit even compared to the CV1 tracking. Literally the worst VR headsets you can buy right now for PC, might as well buy a phone VR headset.
>Rift 2
Hopefully proper outside-in tracking again with physical IPD adjustment and OLED screens might even have a physical focus-feature. Years away and they will continue to shit out garbage headsets until then.
>>it could've been even better so it's shit
I didn't say it was shit I just said it didn't do anything revolutionary; it was tame. Sorry you can't read. Also what did Alyx bring to the table that you're having such a fucking boner over?
don't listen to all the shills
the wireless is nice but it only allows you to play very, very simplistic games (which is great if you're only into those mind you)
see pistol whip or beat saber or the likes
and on top your refresh rate is fixed at 72hz only, which is pretty low and is more likely to give motion sickness to whoever is sensitive to those (lower it is, worse it gets)
though you can use that magic cable to connects it to the PC and makes it a pc headset, but the refresh rate is still stuck at 72hz, the image quality worsens and the magic cable costs more than your average usb cable (and using it removes the wireless part)
rift s is 80hz and has much better quality but you have to use it with a pc good enough to run those games
>the wireless is nice but it only allows you to play very, very simplistic games (which is great if you're only into those mind you)
If you have a good enough router you can play PCVR games with negligible latency. The only flaw with the Quest 1 is the refresh rate and comfort issues which it seems like the Quest 2 will fix..
oh yeah and most importantly of all; quest (wireless) has no way to adjust IPD
if your IPD is around 62-66 then you're good, if you're out of this range then don't even bother
>strives for the best possible components
This is good bait man
>adding latency to a vr headset
sounds like a highway to nausea to me, that's the last fucking thing you want on vr headsets
Controllers? Thats hand tracking, the fuck you mean by controllers?
>can't read article because botnet being botnet
anything else interesting in there?
>accepted as the best hardware headset in every review
>the only vr set with fullly supported finger tracking
>this is bait lmao
Nice arguments.
So, I have an original Oculus Quest. What should I be upgrading to now?
