DMC1 has more in common with Onimusha, DMC3 is the start of a separate approach to action games that doesn't really play like 1 anymore.
It's obviously great, but very different from what you've experienced so far.

turn on turbo mode and use Royal Guard exclusively on your second playthorugh. In my opinion it has the worst DMD in the franchise but if you know what you're doing it should still be fun. On a first playthrough it should be a blast regardless of difficulty

Remember everytime you get a new weapon to check the movelist, many weapons have moves that require pauses in-between inputs and knowing them before hand can lead you to do some stylish looking shit.

also final boss is a playable character (and is better than the main character, imo), which is a fucking plus, love when games do that shit.
turn on turbo mode if you're into fast gameplay.
use trickster and get familiarized with the gameplay then you can experiment with the other styles.
also Hell Vanguard is best boss (besides Vergil)
