Hey, I wanted to ask an honest question so please no memes for this moment please. So we all know how the complication made zack and aerith fare closer to one another and of you watch this video it seems like these 2 are going to live happily ever after and be a couple in the afterlife. This is further reinforced by the authors adding that Aerith write many letters to zack over the course of 4 years. No my question is the following: is this all canon and still true in the way it is described? Is Aerith not a love interest of cloud and only likes him as a friend who attracts Aerith because he seems to be something like Zack at first? Or is it not canon anymore and the canon has changed to something that allows more room for cloud and Aerith, especially if we take FF7R into consideration? With the possibility of zack surviving (which seems unlikely however because if all the actions of the whispers are undone then the plate shouldn't have fallen and barrett should be dead) I wonder how that will change the relationship ship in the game between cloud, zack and aerith. All in all: is the whole deal with zackxAerith still true or was it changed considering that a whole decade is a lot to time for the authors to change their minds.

Possible - however it won't stick. I think they're making Tifa and Aerith even better friends this time around. After they're introduced Tifa speaks and interacts with Aerith more than Cloud does. The payoff will likely be Aerith having to sacrifice herself to pull off some lifestream shenanigans to bring back the time jannies to resurrect Tifa at the expense of damning herself.

So, Zack and Aerith have their happy little ending and live on in the lifestream. But Aerith travels back in time in order to undo the future where she'll live forever with zack in the stream. She erased the future where she will with certainty win. Breaking fate doesn't mean that she can live now, it also means that potentially it can get far, far worse. If sephiroth wins and completely takes over the life stream in the new world they will all perish and become slaves to him and the perfect afterlife will be forever destroyed.
