You can be sure that, because of ME3 and Andromeda, the next ME, if there is no hook, will sell as well as ME1 did on release and will be promptly dropped immediately after, by EA.
ME1 sold 700k copies on release. That's nearing anime RPG tiers amount of sales.
Unless Bioware really brings up the heat, this is going to be the last thing they do. Their next batch of Joss Whedon's sloppy seconds, like the ones they've been consistently introducing, since DA2, won't bring anyone back and even if Bioware says otherwise at this point, nobody is going to trust them.
It's ME1/2 crew back or goodbye at this point, but they said goodbye to them with ME3. Unless they undo it, there's no saving them. But I'm sure Andromeda 2 will generate quite a few laughs, at least.
