Just pulled the trigger on this. Does Zig Forums like this game, or was it just hyped up by fanboys?

it was my first metal gear game, pretty fun.
I don't like it, personally.
It's great, just turn off the cheat vision UI.
Gameplay wise, it's an amazing stealth game that added a lot of changes that were pretty sweet to MGS.
As an MGS, it's lacking. The story is meh, feels kinda unfinished, and for a series that's always had pretty neat boss fights, MGS5 is lacking on that front, it has like 3 of them. And it's a bit repetitive since you'll be sneaking into the same areas for side missions multiple times.
Just skip all cutscenes and its a good experience
Insanely hyped up, just insanely by fanboys that absolutely despise it now because it didnt live up. Still a great game though.
It's trash.
Now THIS is gaming...
First metal gear game I played, I enjoyed it immensely. Story was a bit meh but the gameplay was great, 9/10 or 10/10
gameplay is good and feels refined but it doesn't help that the game feels unfinished. also fuck Kojima for putting "STARRING MAJOR STORY CHARACTER THAT HASN'T MADE AN APPEARANCE YET" at the beginning of every mission as if it doesn't spoil it for you
its fucking shit
the story isn't great but the gameplay is some of the best in the series
there's some grind later on but if you find new ways to play (which there's lots of room for) it shouldn't get too tedious
OP here, will I enjoy it more if I never played any MGS?
I love it. Its a flawed game but playing it blind the first time was a blast. Its less that its bad and more that its very obvious where the corners were cut and its easy to see how much better it could have been. Unironically causes the feeling of phantom pain for the game that could have been.
It will be very confusing but yeah propably, the fans of the series hate it even though its the best game in the series
holy shit i love this
It's a solid game but you will feel let down in the end.
no. it literally leaves you with phantom pain. it has all the right tools for a great stealth game. good movement, good ai (at least in gz), good tools and weapons, good controls but the level design was not there. bases are way too small and have very little guards. trying to make it playable on 360/ps3 basically gutted the game of all it's potential. the engine literally will not let you have more than a certain amount of guards on the screen. the empty wastelands of Afghanistan and Africa are just that. fucking empty. the story is very barren as well. very few missions have any story relevance at all. the fobs are very shallow too. fuck this game.
The story will probably be near incomprehensible. But gameplay you'll enjoy it a lot. Hell, it's got a ton more gameplay than the previous main installment.
Who the fuck has been hyping this up? This game gets shit on everywhere.
>missions 1-30
Lots of cutscenes, but a decent Metal Gear Solid experience.
>missions 31-50
Redo missions you've already done, only now there's harder rules in place. Instant mission fail if spotted, can't bring any equipment or weapons, enemies do more damage, etc.
>side missions
Go kill/kidnap this soldier in this place you've already been a half dozen times. Or go destroy/steal that APC/Tank in that place you've already been a half dozen times.
The game has some funky progression. Getting the tranq rifle is a huge powerup, right until everyone starts walking around in full helmets and it becomes worthless. You can get Quiet some power rifles, but the dog can run up and stab somebody and usually not get noticed anyways. By the time you can start stealing APCs and tanks for you own use, the enemy starts calling in gunships when things go sideways. Research all the super stealth sneaking stuff like the suit and the invisibility gear? Doesn't matter, the final boss can still pinpoint you no matter how you hide.
Still, there's a lot of fun to be had. Calling in for a tank to be delivered right on top of a sniper, stealing vehicles with people still in them, ramming zebras and goats with a jeep, and throwing tranq'd soldiers off of rooftops will always be fun.
How to i bring back the glitched weapon customization?
you'll love it if you never played another MGS game before
It's the worst game ever made and retroactively ruined the previous Metal Gear games.
Is there incentive to capture good soldiers now that the game is dead online?
It's a damn shame to see such exceptionally good gameplay wasted on an empty, soulless open world.
i started with 3 and never played 4 and desu, this is my favorite one in terms of gameplay. it does get repetitive but to me personally it didnt bug me too much. except the armored vehicle side ops
I didn't like it at all. I'm still left scratching my head whenever people talk about how good its gameplay is, makes me feel like I played a different game to everyone else.
Truly a phantom pain. Shame it wasn't finished. Worth it on sale. A disappointment at full price (but probably still worth it in a number of ways). Just don't go in not knowing what to expect. GZ, I feel, shows what it should have been.
This. And they have been hack posting Kojimmy ever since. MGS fans are a strange bunch. Agree the game was bretty gud.
I love it despite the flaws as well.
Also what happened to the Fox Engine? It ran so, so well, I could play MGSV on High 1080p on my fucking 550ti. Just what black magic was put into this engine?
my first mgs, pretty cool but didn't understand shit about the story except ugly guy bad big robot bad gay ocelot good
