I found gameplay to be super samey and the locations extremely boring. Revolutionary era America is as interesting to explore as British food is to eat.
>plays exactly like ACIV Black Flag
It doesn't, there's a shitton of QoL in Black Flag and the main part of Black Flag - the ships (which are vastly more expanded in complexity as well), was a tiny minigame in 3 with like 10 small missions and much more simplistic mechanics.
AC3 is the worst AC.
>Templars bad!
Connor is a shit protagonist and the setting while being cool in concept has nothing done with it.
really should have been haytham kenway as the MC and only at the end do you find out he's a part of the templars
Ship combat + being a pirateyou stupid fuck
Burger history isn't intersesting.
Because everything except pirate theme was awful in Black Flag. Melee combat was trash, quests were "tail this guy" ad nauseam, parkout was as junky as in first two games.
Americans how did you react to this trailer at the time?
I liked Connor's outfit. His and Altair's are the best designed outfits in the series.
Connor is one of the most sympathetic protagonists in AC, it's a shame his game is mediocre
Side missions in AC3 are pure garbage. Especially assassinations are just killing some random Guard patroling.
Homestead quest were boring too.
I clapped, I can't wait to kill british again in Valhalla
The protagonist is a retarded monkey with a hunchback.
Why did he allow GW to live when he was the one who killed the Native American people?
The revolution has plenty of interesting things going on in it, almost none of them would translate to an action platforming game though.
Both had shit story and one dimensional protag but Black Flag had cool setting with good atmosphere and ship "minigame" to the standard AC fare. AC3 shits on the franchise and doesn't even implement the gameplay properly (very few and small buildings).
AC2 is still the only good game in the franchise in my opinion, granted I didn't give them a chance after Black Flag so my opinion may be shit. However based on what I've seen it wasn't convincing and the latest viking AC doesn't even look like AC but rather generic game about vikings.
>really should have been haytham kenway as the MC and only at the end do you find out he's a part of the templars
Pretty much this, have the entire game go without revealing he's a Templar much like the entire first 1/4 of the game went and only have the reveal at the very end.
Woud've been perfect.
>Revolutionary era America is as interesting to explore as British food is to eat.
pleb
It's blatantly obvious he's a templar like 5 minutes into the game. It would have been really contrived if they had tried to stretch that "twist" into a 20 hour game
I think the bigger problem is Havana and Kingston were dinky little cities of one or two floor buildings that need ropes and conveniently placed trees to even make freerunning viable and you spend very little time there.
But whatever I couldn't give a shit about the assassin story line, I still load up the game once a month just to sail around, pick fights with armadas, and whale hunting because its just so comfy and is just emergent gameplay.
>Black Flag
>play as based Edward from the start
>AC3
>play a 2-3 hours of based Haytham
>then 3-4 hours of shitty kid Connor
>then 10 hours of ad Connor
you dont even get to be an "asssassin" until you're like half-way done with the game ffs
Haytham was the best AC villian especially because he had the most down to earth goals of all the Templars. AC is typically stupid with its villians trying to literally subjugate mankind, but Haytham acted much how real secret societes act. Gaining influence in high postions of power and using suggestion, persuasion, innuendo to shape policy. Connor was too upset with their methods and blinded by revenge for Charles Lee to relaize Haytham was not that worse than either the Patriots or the British. He learns that the virtures of the Revolution are largely bullshit and designed to benefit a small class of wealthy colonists while marginalizing everyone else (slaves, indians, women, etc). This is crystal clear when Washington stright up orders to remove his tribe, but Connor sort of just gives up after that point and opts to hunt for Lee... then his story is over. No real exploration of his disillusionment.
AC3 has moments of brilliance in its story, but the delivery is so ass. Also felt like they didn't know what kind of story they wanted to tell with Connor. The fact that such a powerful speech at the end was cut shows you how they had so little confidence in the narrative. Whoever cut this should be tared and feathered
youtu.be
shitty protagonist
shitty setting with no landmarks or remarkable architecture or culture
shitty main story
shitty side content aside from sailing
Assasins Creed 3 commits the cardinal sin of taking 12 fucking years to get started.
Atleast in Black Flag you can start playing the real game in less than an hour
assassins creed 3 threw out 5 years of buildup and the series primary writer and concept guy to give us a lame duck storyline about a boring protagonist in a time period that is only interesting to americans
its ending shit all over everything prior to that point and all the buildup was wasted on an anticlimax
AC4 was just the personal story of Edward Kenway. Assassins shit was just background noise.
AC3 also got its main character wrong
>huge areas
>nothing in them
>punished for exploring
>punished for doing side quests
>overly dramatic main story that railroads you
never played black flag but most asscreeds have the same type of shit i dislike. obviuosly a lot of people like them.
>No real exploration of his disillusionment.
They do give you a glimpse in Liberation but it's not to the extent of his epilogue speech.
7 hour tutorial
>play as mulato
never
What the fuck, this speech is sooo fucking good, and it makes Connor look like a badass, why would they take it out?
Actually he's half white and native so he's mestizo
