It's because you're reading subtitles and making up your own voices that aren't shit. That's why manga > anime.

Sure, but I CAN understand English, and they sound like shit.

Sekiro was the first game I felt a need to swap to Japanese. Heard the first couple of NPCs in English and I wasn't feeling it.
I really like how Nioh handles it, with characters speaking a language appropriate for them.

>It's because you're reading subtitles and making up your own voices that aren't shit.

Hey why not just close your eyes and just imagine things

Imagination >>>>>>>>> manga >anime

Looks like we dont need to consume any Japanese media now

Although I know this is a shitpost thread, but in Japanese videogames Japanese voice acting has better narrating, which is pretty obvious.

Unless you're Hideo Kojima, the Japanese outsource their English voice acting and be like "whatever, let's work with what we got"

English dubbing over Japanese breaks my immulsions

>friend has Final Fantasy 4, 5, and 6 in Super Famicom format
>damn Jake I didnt know you could read Japanese
>I cant

Based /tg/.

*literal non stop chink screaming at the top their lungs in some normal everyday conversation*

EEEEEEEEEEEHHHHHHHHHHHHHH?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!

Nah, I'm not an autistic sexless faggot

Why do I need to understand it? I just know it sounds more pleasant than the shitty dub.

I've thought this for years. How do they know?!?! They don't!

We're talking about Japanese games ITT, tard.

I wish you could imagine yourself into a grave.

OH NO

HE KNOWS MY MOTIVATIONS

THIS IS EMBARRASSING FOR ME

Sorry about you being illiterate and not being able to read the subs, but it is you people the dubs are for

Nine times out of ten, you don't need to understand VA to know if it's good or not. The dubbing/VA industry in America is also notably fucking horrid and laden with nepotism/union autism, which is why English VA is almost always shit unless they get theater actors like Xenoblade Chronicles 1 or Dark Souls did. Most English dubs have a fucking horrendous script as well, though that's more an issue with how autistic translators forget how contextual of a language Japanese is and just swap everything out for stock phrases like "It can't be helped."

I always play the game with the original voice acting because it has more soul.

Voice acting in English generally sucks tho. Everybody sounds like a fucking clown, it doesn't make sense. At least that's what Ameican voice acting sounds like.

It appears I struck a nerve

The only good voice actors are English stage actors. This is a fact.

>English VA's are cringey old ass boomers who don't give a shit
>Japanese VA's are youthful seiyuus you treat it as a lifelong profession
>Nooooo you don't speak japanese you can't recognise better inflection or emotional gravitas
Imagine watching let me in over let the right one in like some kind of emotionally autistic midwit

Did this with Metro Exodus and Russian.

this but unironically

You didn't, I'm just pointing out that "chink" means Chinese.

Nice you totally won that argument because you made the other guy look silly

Based lmao XDDDD

I feel bad for people who can't understand any Japanese. My Japanese is garbage but it's still easy to grasp unnecessary localization changes.

>puyo puyo image
i still can't fucking believe people defended the puyo puyo tetris dub
how do you fuck up that badly

japs, and all asians for that matter, have no souls.
They're closer to insects than humans

Even assuming that dub actors are just as good as the originals (they absolutely aren't), they're only a part of the reason dubs are shit.
>all lines are recorded individually, so every single "conversation" is three people trying to be as generic as possible in tone so it doesn't sound stilted as hell when it's spliced together (it still does)
>dub voice directors are fucking shit, with their sole concern being to have as few takes as possible to minimize costs so it's a regular occurence to never redo shit takes
>beyond that, thinking that a director other than the original will be able to even remotely produce the same results
>VAs given little to no context whatsoever about their lines, or even the story as a whole so their performance becomes even more stilted and awkward
If you think that all of this bullshit doesn't negatively affect the final product, you're legitimately brain damaged.

lmao sad as fuck weebs

It comes down to their ability to convey emotion, which you can tell regardless of whether or not you understand the actual words spoken. English VA's are typically of a poorer quality, so you have poor conveyance and often voice direction; the tone of voice a character uses can paint them as completely different people if you fuck it up.
When a Japanese character needs to sound angry, aloof, giddy, or sad, they're able to nail it significantly more often.
Also as said, the VA Union is pretty scummy.

Sub is always worse than dub

If it's a Japanese game I use Spanish or Italian dubs. Japanese is an ugly language and their VAs are robots, English sub actors are Disney Channel rejects

>Watch a German film in its original language as intended
>Nobody says anything
>Watch an American film in its original language as intended
>Nobody says anything
>Watch a Mexican film in its original language as intended
>Nobody says anything

>Watch something in Japanese
>OMG UR SUCH A FAGGOT
Why is this a thing?

Japs talk like fucking retards and jap writing is fucking terrible. They think people screaming at each other is funny...

...

and you think Spanish or Italian are good? I'm spanish and most of our dubs are absolutely trash

>Even assuming that dub actors are just as good as the originals (they absolutely aren't)
There's definitely a few exceptions. Bayonetta and Kingdom Hearts 3 both added the English VAs to the Jap versions specifically because the English VAs were more popular. which is fucking baffling because in the case of KH3, while there are some relay good actors in the ENG version, some of them (i.e. Riku) phoned it in so hard that it's downright comical

Nothing has changed just because "nerds" became cool, now they just call you an incel for liking Japanese media instead

>English voice acting for jap games and anime is usually shit.
>Even if you don't understand Japanese you can tell if a voice is good or not just by the sound, emotion and vocal range
>Not always playing games in their native audio, no matter what country they're from
>Not learning Japanese

It's true, but then you're limited to YOUR OWN imagination. By reading/playing other people's things, you get to experience THEIR imagination as well as your own!
Isn't modern media wonderful?!

Weebs have given a bad name to anyone interested in Japanese culture and in content produced from that country.
