You're just retarded

Super Mario Sunshine is the most love-it-or-hate-it game of all time. Personally, I like it, but I see why many people hate it.

Fpbp

Whatever bothers the most people.
So both.

No it's one of the worst 3D Marios.
It's not a bad game by any means though.

Depends on what you prioritize.

It's a good game, but there are a few boring/frustrating stars for sure. I personally like it more than galaxy, but less than 64 (haven't played odyssey).

If this shit was made by Rare it would be an "underrated cult classic" or whatever term fags use to describe unpopular but good stuff, the only reasons people hate it it's because it's not another 10/10 mario sequel, or because they don't have the IQ to understand how to use the fludd to be good at the game.

banjo kazooie controls and gameplay aged better then mario 64. Old rare really was talented. Sunshine is really shit.

Sunshine controls better than banjo tho....

>is this not that great?
You got it right. Mario Sunshine was always considered a dud.

I can't see why people like 64 way more than Sunshine. I just 100%ed the PC port of 64 and it was fun enough, but piss-easy. The only "hard" parts were wall-jumping being fucky since you don't slide. Sunshine has more to it and is actually difficult at times, especially with some of the later secret platforming levels

Sunshine just has the same issues as 64 but makes them a lot worse/more tedious. Both games are in desperate need of critique.

How? Sunshine removes the completely useless attacks from 64 and gives you a squirt instead, allows you to readjust trajectory mid-air, and has way more challenging platforming sections with the sans-fludd levels. Even if some of the difficulty is from jank, at least it keeps me engaged more than snoring my way through 64

Sunshine gimps Mario hard.
64 has better course variety.
64 unironically has better controls.
Subjectively, I like that 64 doesn’t tell you where to go at the beginning of the level, you have to figure it out.

Only real ones appreciate FLUDD

Sunshine removes the long jump. Moving Mario just isn’t near as fun in Sunshine. To be fair, only Odyssey can compare to 64 in that regard.

Sunshine is probably the toughest of the 3D Mario. Ignoring the difficulty, It's a below excellent 3D Mario game, and it is worse than all the 3D Mario games in my opinion, but it's still a VERY good game.

At least it's better than the awful Galaxy games ( the worst 3D Marios)

>awful Galaxy games
Your taste is shit.

it's the best 3d mario. the atmosphere and graphics are still unmatched to this day. gameplay is really creative imo. only thing that sucks is that completing it 100 percent has no pay off whatsoever and all you get is a postcard at the end of the game. 100 percenting this game is a bitch too.

I AM MOST CONCERNED WITH THE WELL-BEING OF THE PRINCESS IN THIS DREADFUL HEAT

Sorry I don't like dumbed down Mario games with awful floaty movement and few movement options compared to all other 3D Mario games

Youre retarded. Sunshine is the worst of the 3D games.

WHAT'S THIS ICKY PAINT LIKE GOOP?

>Sunshine gimps Mario hard
The only thing I really miss is the longjump in Sunshine, other than that I actually prefer being able to slide lunge over and over as well as build up massive amounts of momentum by sliding over water.
>64 has better course variety
"variety" in the form of more themes (snow, fields, mountains, two water levels with underwater caves), but often with strikingly similar level designs (how many courses in 64 are a mountain with spiraling paths up or down?) Sunshine has lots of water and beach, I'll give you that, but I think the actual level designs can be more creative and engaging than 64's. I like Ricco Harbor and Pinna Park's use of cages, ceiling climbing, and platforming between them, Noki Bay's emphasis on tightrope platforming, the mountain village's entire mushroom section with hidden entrances to it, there's lots to like imo.
>64 unironically has better controls
I unironically can't agree with this. Mario feels lighter in Sunshine, to its benefit imo. You can still build lots of momentum but can also stop on a dime, unlike 64 where you feel a bit slower to stop, and Mario sometimes circles around to turn rather than just immediately facing the other way in 64 while with Sunshine small readjustments feel a lot easier. Plus camera control was way improved.
>I like that 64 doesn’t tell you where to go
Except in the cases of completely who-the-fuck-would-even-figure-it-out stars, like Blast Away The Wall. That star was complete and utter strategy guide bait.

you're getting filtered, especially if you liked 64

>Blast Away The Wall
>who-the-fuck-would-even-figure-it-out stars
>Blast Away The Wall
>complete and utter strategy guide bait
>Blast
>Away
>The
>Wall

It's the least good of the 3D Marios.

>Sunshine removes the completely useless attacks from 64
It also cuts down on some movement options. Fludds implementation is done as if it's a solution looking for a problem, and Nintendo's answer to this was to make the levels massively spaced out for no reason, making traveling from location to location feel incredibly padded. The repetitive theming of levels contributes significantly to player fatigue. The tropical theme and music wears its welcome by the second stage. The blue coins contribute significantly to the padding and the few times where fludd is removed allow the movement Mario has to finally feel enjoyable.

It's a rough game and hard to enjoy.

Ah, yes, blast away the wall obviously gives enough info to tell you that you have to use the cannon to hit yourself into two corners of two walls, both of which look like regular geometry and have absolutely nothing that stands out about them.

No Mario level will ever match the atmosphere of the Hotel Delfino

damn right. night time in pianta village is unmatched as well.

m8 I figured it out when I was like 3. Granted, I had all day every day to play games back then, but still, it wasn't hard. There's one cannon in the course and it has a limited range of movement, there's only so much wall you can blast at until you get it. I got filtered by "Very Nice Shot with the Chain Chomp" in Odyssey, though.

It's not that great. Getting bored with a shit game is also not what 'filtered' means.

Good one. That’s not 3D land

>I had all day every day to play games back then
Yes, and so did I. It was one of the last stars I collected when I was a kid. It's a bad one

3D Land is so boring and bland that no one even remembers it when talking about 3D Marios

3D Land has the old school asthetic that instantly makes it better than Galaxy

You gotta realize that Mario for the N64 came out 24 years ago. At the time it was amazing now it's just nostalgia.

that's a really positive way of saying it has so little going for it that even its aesthetics are ripped wholesale from older games

No, I just replayed it. The fluddless controls and physics are an absolute mess and the level design is often straight up bad

Mario64 is better than all modern platformers so your argument is nonsense
