Rare games seem to have themes that criticize capitalism.
>Banjo-Tooie Grunty Industries is a corrupt corporation run by Gruntilda. It's responsible for polluting surrounding areas, and is even shown drilling for oil in Hailfire Peaks. >Conker's Bad Fur Day Working-class guy who just wants a normal life is screwed over by a bunch of rich assholes. >Yooka-Laylee The main villain is literally named Capital B, and he's a business owner.
>Working-class guy who just wants a normal life is screwed over by a bunch of rich assholes. >a king >the mafia >a nazi scientist >a giant caveman >a shark >Mighty poo >terminator capitalism?

The primary antagonist is a king, as you said, which is the ultimate symbol of class differences. Then you have the snooty catfish and the bourgeois boiler and cogs.
Angel Mitchell
a king is not capitalism
Leo Garcia
>The primary antagonist is a king, as you said, which is the ultimate symbol of class differences. You need to read your Marx. Feudalism is not capitalism, retard.
This is a stealth politics thread.
Angel Gonzalez
To add what the other anons have already said, class division isn't exclusive to capitalism.
Gabriel Evans
Regardless, the point is that the king is in a position of power and is rich. He's not as obvious of a symbol as the others I mentioned though.
You are correct, but it's associated heavily with capitalism.

Wow you finally realized everything is political even Mario.
Makes sense considering capitalist practices in the vidya industry is far and away the worst in the world.
Jason James
does gruntilda pay anyone or is she just using her magic power to brute force bully people into doing what she wants? cause that ain't capitalism
Asher Thompson
This is your mind on communism.

How much of a brainlet do you have to be to not realize Capitalism and Monarchism are almost completely opposite
Brandon Cook
Most monarchies are also capitalist.

Most if not all of the Banjo-Kazooie series up until N&B was about environmental pollution. Just look at Clanker's Cavern, Rusty Bucket Bay, Grunty Industries, Witchy World, Half-fire Peaks which is a nod to global warming and that's why it affected the pool in Jolly Roger's Lagoon, etc... Even the gameboy advance game where Gruntilda is literally trying to make the breegull species go extinct in order to erase Kazooie's existence. Not to mention she ruined Spiller's Harbor which used to be a tourist place, and I bet she ruined Rusty Bucket Bay too. Gruntilda is responsible for most if not all of the environmental pollution going on in every "corrupt" world. It is also fitting that the protagonists are animals.
this. pollution is definitely the message here. as for conker, at most you could say it's anti establishment. don't know why op connects everything to capitalism

>kameo liberal cunt unleashes rapist horde on the world for not getting the love she needed
Matthew Hughes
Oh shit that's really cool. Any other games that do this? I know that the Ratchet and Clank devs did this too. Love this kind of thing.

Yooka-Laylee's biggest issue is the shit character designs, and the lack of cohesion between them and the story. Banjo-Kazzoie's theming was perfect: It's a fairy tale. The main characters are a bear and a bird, with a family of moles, and the bear's little sister alongside them. The villain is a witch, and she has trolls and gremlins as henchmen, plus the cauldrons and a fairy-like sister. The supporting characters consist of a shaman/witch-doctor, a native woman, some fairy-like creatures, and a magic spellbook. Plus every level has monsters and characters that fit that level.
Compare that to the random BS that is Yooka-Laylee's characters. Why is the villain a Bee? Just for the joke on it being a letter, but also an animal? I know there is a books vs industry theme of sorts, but then why is the move character a snake? Maybe to go with the main character sbe a lizard and a bat (creatures often seen as "gross" or negative)? Then why is the transformation character an octopus? And why is a duck the villain's sidekick? WHy is it the same generic blue goblin thing as an enemy in each world? What do lizards and bats have to do with books?
