As someone who played the Persona 5 and enjoyed it, is royal worth it?

I was pretty excited when royal was announced, but when the details about it came in I was kind of disappointed. I figured royal would fix all the problems that Persona 5 had, such has Haru getting too little screen time, Futaba getting a little too much screen time, and Akechi being a tad bit underwhelming as a villain character.

Now that all the dust has settled, I want the truth. Is Persona 5 Royal worth it? I didn't buy any of the DLC, so I don't care if they just rehashed it without thought. If its so-so, I might just get it on sale.

Yes it's worth getting but they didn't do much with Haru at all, which doesn't matter to me because I don't really care about that character.

Is Akechi better? I've heard that they've fixed up his character a bit.

It's worth it if you want to ruin Joker and the Phantom Thieves for yourself forever.

>The royal ending sucks compared to the vanilla ending

>There's more romance scenes

>New gameplay mechanics and palace changes are all pretty good and make it feel fresh when replaying

>The new characters are both good but it felt like all the new royal stuff was more about akechi and joker's relationship

There is alot of new content but I'm not sure if I'd buy it at full price.

Haru doesn't really get that much more screen time if you don't count the extra dates.

Maybe it depends the game has improvements you’ll notice throughout but its largely the same as vanilla story wise except for new events sprinkled in mainly to do with Maruki, Kasumi and Akechi but they are pretty good
Post Yaldy is where the game really shines though even though it’s kinda short everything about the final boss and dungeon is phenomenal easily the best stuff in the game

3rd semester akechi is edgy kino. He also has confidant events now which are alright.

he's pretty based in the last arc

new touches are nice and you can hang out with akechi which is really gay
post-game is retarded and was so infuriatingly stupid i dropped the game for a few days before i went back to finish it
what said

I always liked Goro but yes he's great in Royal because of his MAXIMUM EDGE which he doesn't hide anymore under a façade.

i can't tell if you're joking or not
the palace is mediocre and the only good thing about the third semester is the suped up personas the team gets

honestly the flagrant misuse of rivers in the desert upsets me almost as much as how retarded the story is

Alright, I'll buy it on sale. Thanks guys!

pros:

Having baton pass right from the start makes it more fun but considerably easier. There are a lot more stuff to do to increase social stats, and to get better baton passes and technicals. The new palace is fun, and maruki is a decent villain. Edgy Akechi is the best part of the game.

cons:

The game tries incredibly hard to make you like kasumi, and she's pushes her as the canon love interest way too much. The whole new palace's plot is pretty much akechi-joker fanservice. The final fight is very underwelming and pretty shitty compared to shido. Haru is still completely ignored.

Still fun tho.

I recommend it, Waifu wars aside, it was so much fun getting back into this universe with cleaner gameplay. The new story stuff was inevitably going to cause controversy but overall I think the message of this ending hit harder for me than the original one.

Real talk, Haru actually gets more love in spinoffs, dude. In Scramble she even gets to reason with one of the antagonist to change their heart, someone she is familiar with. She's not even allowed to do that with her own father in base.

It doesn't fix all the problems, nothing fundamentally changes about the main story, but pretty much everything it adds to the story and characters is good and the improvements it makes to gameplay are even better.

all the new content is locked in the last semester, so it's essentially 90% the same shit you already played and then some shitty overpriced Dlc content all shoehorned at the very end. Still much better than the abomination that was P4 Golden tho.

I enjoyed the fuck out of the new content. Though idk if it was worth playing through vanilla content to get to it. The final antagonist had so much more impact than Kamoshida did imo.

Too bad P5S is just a sequel to the original

As someone who thought vanilla Persona 5 was one of the best games I'd ever played, I'd definitely recommend Royal. Obviously I'm biased, but most of the added content makes the game more fun and doesn't feel forced. My only complaints so far would be that the combat has been made laughably easy. The only difficult battles I've fought in the entire game so far are Okumura and the Reaper, and the Reaper isn't really hard, he's just an annoying bullet sponge. The showtime moves are fun and can come in handy sometimes but they are basically just mini all-out attacks which means most battles you use them in will be over quickly. The palace changes are a nice change from the original layouts, although for the most part they only serve to make the palaces easier. You get baton pass from the very beginning and you can even level it up so that teammates regain health and SP and gain an attack boost from it. So yeah, the combat is pretty retardedly broken, but all-in-all it's just Persona 5 with more shit so it's pretty good nonetheless. If you love Persona 5, it's worth it. The thieves' den is also a cool addition.

Is it worth playing even if I already know Maruki is a bad guy? Cause I kinda lost interest because of the constant spoilers on Zig Forums.

If you enjoyed 5 you'll enjoy Royal. It's basically the same game with a bunch of gameplay improvements. The biggest sin it makes is that the new characters don't join early enough.

Yeah because it's watching his story play out is interesting and the third semester is pretty damn good overall plus Maruki isn't bad. He's an antagonist in the proper sense of the word.

I want fuck futaba smelly pussy. I want to smell the disgusting stench while i destroy her womb with my raging cock

This isn't a game where you should really care about the story, everything after the Kamoshida arc is worse than it.

No.
Royal is worse than OG.

no.
It has the best "villain" in the game however.
He also did nothing wrong.

I liked all the new dungeon and boss changes
Shidos dungeon is still boring though with the ratto puzzles, was it the same dungeon as vanilla?

retard

Why would you play a JRPG for anything other than the story? They overbuffed guns so it's not even like combat is challenging anymore

gr8 argument

Madarame, Kaneshiro and Okumura suck.
Futaba's palace, Shido's, Yaldabaoth's and Maruki's arcs are all really good.
