Or more realistically, it just set things up for some other world where XC3 will take place, but all with different characters and setting anyway, much like XC1 and XC2 are different worlds, settings and characters. While they *may* be able to pull off a Xenoblade 3 deeply involving XC1 and XC2 (as both games will be on the same console, thus they can actually go that way if they want to), I still think it's smarter business-wise to not make games too related to each other. Though it's true some long running series exist, but the Final Fantasy approach stays the safest one. Besides, unfortunately, Takahashi already had a taste of what it does when a long running sagas fails to catch in the consumer, in the form of Xenosaga.

They didn't redub any lines. The Melia dialogue which is maybe not Jenna Coleman is all new.

Since Mikhail probably isn’t the only Tornan survivor turned Blade Eater who lived (as he himself said), it’s not implausible that one or two are still around by the time of XC2

Yeah, it sounds like her, but 9 or so years older than when she did voice Melia. Which is about where we are right now. Her Future Connected voice sounds indistinguishable from what she sounds like in Victoria.

If not, it's an amazing sound-alike. And she's getting far better treatment than what Lucina got for her replacement voice atleast. Still, I say it's her.

The character models look pretty shit, worse than FFX HD. At times even the environment looks worse than the Wii version which is pretty fucking difficult.

It doesn't matter though, Three Houses is one of the ugliest modern AAA game I've ever seen yet drones eat it up.

No one's sure. I'm personally on Team "Not Jenna but the new VA is a really good impersonator". I think Melia sounds a bit too nasally to be Jenna + if they actually brought Jenna back she would cost an absolute fuckton of cash.
Although, there's always the chance she plays nice with cash for some reason. Maybe because she loved the role or because XC1 was one of her few roles before her breakout in Doctor Who? It's possible but I doubt it.

She's just really popular now in British TV and probably costs an absolute fuckton of money for even cameo roles nowadays. Unless NoE shelled out the cash for her to come back for Future Connected OR she was really nice about coming back for a lower paycheck (which might happen, from what I've heard she certainly didn't despise her role as Melia), NoE has most likely gone with a sound-alike for FC.

Running upstream takes a lot of leg strength. You should be impressed.

I personally think it's her but just being a decade older. I can't imagine them scouring the entirety of Britbongia just to find a voice actress that sounds that close to Jenna.

There's no drama, it's just that she's become an actual actress with actual roles in television and film, even getting nominated for some Emmys.
The problem with her now is that getting a big name actress to do voice over for a JRPG is not an easy thing to do. Most people who start as voice actors and eventually make it big in other forms don't have any interest in going back to being voice actors.

Well, she's playing two different characters, so that could be throwing us off, but even setting aside cadence and maybe accent shifting, I get a slightly more deep undertone to Melia's Future Connected voice work.
