When Square remakes Chrono Trigger...

When Square remakes Chrono Trigger, do you think they'll do a Final Fantasy 7 style remake or a Trials of Mana style remake?

I would 100% be in favor of a ToM style CT remake. The cartoony look fits Toriyama's concept art perfectly

I wouldn't mind a remake as it might actually fix the mess that Cross did to the story and better link the two.

Cross doesn't need to be and shouldn't be referenced at all. The whole concept of the island chain only exists as a consequence of Crono beating Lavos, aka post-credits stuff.

This. Chrono Cross is the game that needs a remake, since there was a lot left on the cutting room floor. Plus they could remake it in Toriyama's style to match Chrono Trigger.

Chrono Trigger should never get one, since it's already a polished game. Which means Square will remake it sometime. Can't let a good game stay good.

hopefully they just skip that trash and move on to remaking cross.

not every game needs a remake

>I didn't understand the story of Chrono Cross at all
The island chain exists in the world of Chrono Trigger. You just never go down there in Trigger. It's south east of Porre (which is also a big story point in Chrono Cross). And the entire point of Chrono Cross is that Serge and his group stop the events that cause Chrono and his team dying.

What's missing in Chrono Cross is the connections to Magus the author wanted to put in. Plus arcs for half the other characters. But it fully explains and cleans up the connections to Chrono Trigger.

Cross's problem primarily stems from the shit roster. No one wants to play the fat middle aged wife with 2 kids who fights with a frying pan. That's not the kind of hero you want to be when you save the universe. They have to trim off all the fat and then inevitably people will complain. A core party of 7-8 characters max would work better and they could develop them better.

No you're wrong user. El Nido was terraformed islands that Chronopolis workers created after they got sucked 10,000 years into the past. It would not have existed in the world of CT originally since Chronopolis only exists in the good post-dead Lavos future after CT finishes.

The reason I enjoyed Cross was the sheer number and diversity of recruitable and playable characters

no game needs a remake
if you want to improve upon a game make a sequel or spiritual successor

Mana needed a remake and thankfully it's better now for it. Now if they can just remake Secret of Mana properly.

CT did not age well. It definitely needs a remake.

The most lasting memory I have of Chrono Cross is having Marcy use String Phone so I could look at her panties.

Why does everyone suck Seiken Densetsu's 3 dick so much. I tried to play it recently and it's fucking awful.

or remake a game that actually needs one (like dawn of mana). or, better yet, make a new one.

CT doesn't need it, but if they had to a SoM style remake would be best. That said, CT is as perfect as is, no need to remake it.

It should be done like Dragon Quest XI. The tech system would lose its "soul" if it were made into an ARPG.

>square
call them enix or fully square enix
most of the og crew from square soft build monolith soft

>Mana needed a remake
No it didnt, the SNES game is still perfectly fine

Games that need remakes:
Chrono Cross
Suikoden III
Zelda 2
Castlevania III
Tie Fighter

Games that don't need remakes:
Chrono Trigger
Seiken Densetsu 3
Final Fantasy VII
Final Fantasy X
Link's Awakening
Wind Waker
Ocarina of Time
Majora's Mask
Resident Evil 4

Combat was completely broken in Seiken Densetsu 3.

It needed to be changed, whether in a 3d remake or otherwise.

It isn't fine and it never was. The battle system is fucking abysmal and I've never understood how anyone could stand to play it. The endgame is nothing but breaking your finger trying to get the menu to open so you can get an action in on whatever boss you're fighting that doesn't have any delay in between spells.

not sure why anyone would want a CT remake that expands the Cathedral and Guardia Prison so much that they take up the entire game.
so I'm going to have to go with ToM

Ocarina of Time is the Zelda 2 remake, faggot

try a new run, but this time don't bring Angela. also, always tell the AI to use level 1 techs.

I wish i lived in a universe where a quality xenogears remake was possible.

it does if you want to keep making money off it

>Seiken Densetsu 3
>Link's Awakening
these remakes fixed legitimate gameplay flaws with the originals, so they have a valid reason to exist.
>Final Fantasy VII
ff7 didn't NEED a remake, but people spent 15 years begging for it, and at least they're not foolishly attempting to replace the original.

>Castlevania III
It's literally perfect and the epitome of the classicvanias. Castlevania II now, that is buggy shit.

square enix lost all their good guys so they have to rehash their old games while monolith soft keep making new stuff

>remake this
>remake that
if you didnt play it either emulate it or fuck off zoomer. constant remakes are holding back new ip among other things. just look at film, same shit.
