It's really just a bonus to console manufacturers. People who are going to be gaming on next gen console systems hooked up to their 4k TV's aren't going to drop all of that in order to run those same games on a desktop computer. And very few people will hook up a PC to their TV and use it for gaming that way. It's nothing more than an additional market to sell their games to, and probably still larger than a lot of people automatically assume, since you don't NEED to run at 4k, most people still are running on 1080p monitors.

I'm still uncertain myself, do I need to buy games digitally from the microsoft store for it to work or will my disc from amazon automatically upgrade once it recognizes its in the SeX rather than the One.

Fucking based, and it's not even that expensive. Sure, it's a big upfront cost but you'll be with a really good computer for many years to come. I built mine in 2013 and paid 1200 for it all. It is still able to play the current games. Currently playing modern warfare and absolutely shitting on controller kiddies with my keyboard and mouse aim.

And I bought PS4 for $400 in 2013 and can play same games, optimized for the console. Only games I play on PC are Paradox shit, Total War, Civ/Endless series, indie shit like Underrail. Only Total War runs on medium settings, but it’s completely playable.
I will do the same thing for next gen, I’ll buy a box 3 times cheaper than your future proof PC upgrade and will be fine.
