I often love this artstyle from MGS, but what is with the moon in all of MGS2 art? It barely appears in the game since most of the game is in daylight. The only time where it's night is when you play as Snake.

How bad is the port anyway? I literally just finished MGS1 yesterday and wanted to play 2 but only have a PC and a hacked vita
Should I just try emulate it?

no contest
>have old thinkpad
>download dmc4
>enjoy it at a decent framerate
>download dmc3hd
>can't play, requires dx10
>download dmc3
>runs slow mo like absolute shit
>spend some time trying to fix it, delete music files, try all the tweaks that come with the style switcher mod
>still doesnt work
>give up and go play it on ps2
honorable mention to dmc4se running half the framerate vanilla runs

Didn't even run on my machine.

When I got the game it was still back when THPS was popular so I was fucking stoked to play as Snake on a skateboard. Idk what went wrong, but whatever it was, trying to install the game and then running it proved to be pretty difficult

I remember downloading it on windows 7 and never actually managing to run it

as someone who spent literal days trying to get it to work, don't try to get this to work. the best result was getting it to work on a computer with fucking windows ME, and even then a bunch of the cutscenes were just black video with people talking over it

Remember back in the day when they'd natively make the game for 360 and port it for other consoles? Nowadays each version is more native however iirc rdr2 on pc is a straight up console port.

I wish someone would fix MGS2 on PC like people are doing now for SH2.

Saints Row 2.

Install and you're fine

Samurai Warriors: Spirit of Sanada, a PS4 port with so much lag that runs like it has parkinsons.

My rig can run nioh with ease but not this poorly optimized game!

I managed to get a rom for the PS2 version so I'm going to try my luck with pcsx2, I've got an AMD Ryzen 5 3600 which may not work out too well so its either that, or using the Vita which would suck.
I should really get an old PS3/4 since there's a lot I'd like to play on them anyway

What did it fix and how good is it now?

This. Still never played the game because of it

Metal Slug X. How can my fucking Wii run this game better than my PC

Saints Row 2

why not just emulate it?

I ran it on XP just fine, but def play it with a controller.

This
Or GTA IV

Bandai Namco needs to stand trial for their ports of Dark Souls 1, and 2 out of the 4 Tales games they have on Steam. 30fps-cap in an ARPG is a hate crime.

I had no problem getting this to work on windows 10. Getting a Dualshock 4 to work with it was the real pain in the ass.

Deadly Premonition

Bloodborne.

Bully Scholarship Edition

It's absolutely insane that they based the Symphonia port on the 30fps PS2 version and left it like that when the original GC version ran at 60fps.

That’s because the devs were retarded and tied shit to be at 30fps like the collision detection

It’s even worse. It’s based off the PS3 port of the PS2 port, and didn’t even bother to put in the sequel game. (Love it or hate it, it would have justified the $20 asking price)

Dark Souls was unbelievable without dsfix
NieR Automata is also really bad

It worked fine on release to be honest. Had absolutely no problems with it back in the day

I played it on win XP, worked perfectly but there was no controller button sensitivity or at least it didn't work for me. The MGS1 Snake hold up missions were fucking hell because you needed to hold up people with a rifle. Which only works if you press square slightly, if you press it all the way you just shoot.
