The new Perfect Dark was supposed to be revealed this month, but has been pushed back, likely to July. This is Microsoft's last chance to be forgiven for what they did to Perfect Dark with PD: Zero. If they Young Conker this bitch, some righteous citizen with firebomb their HQ.

>still believing sabi in 2020

No one asked for it.

Someone went digging through the Microsoft IP Graveyard recently. Blinx and Viva Pinata reboots when?

Nobody asked for a sequel to one of the top rated FPS games of all time. Are you high?

>My leak info isn't bullshit, everyone else is why its wrong

jet force gemini?

Perfect Dark wasn't that great. Halo came out a year later and blew it out of the water and I'm surprised it's so highly regarded

>Source: A fucking twitter user with an anime profile picture

Op, tell us the truth. Are you retarded?
From a start everybody knew that the may 7th conference was to show third parties games. Do you know how to fucking read? Or you just come and copy paste any shit you see on the internet. God fucking damn I hate when retarded people like you, you fucking mokey with microcephaly, come to the fucking forum and start posting this kind of obvious shit. You fucking empty headed nigger sucker

Halo is a fucking shit espionage game. This is like saying that Half-Life blew Rainbow 6 out out of the water. Literally all you do in Halo is walk around and kill things. It's a generic FPS game.

>From a start everybody knew that the may 7th conference was to show third parties games.
Not originally. They decided to split their conferences up after the Corona situation. Kinda like how they originally planned on launching the new Xbox in September, but plans are up in the air now and it might be October instead.

>Deus Ex wasn't that great. Halo came out a year later and blew it out of the water and I'm surprised it's so highly regarded
Halo ruined the FPS genre in a lot of ways. Before Halo came along, FPS games were more sophisticated. Intelligent. They focused on a combination of shooting and using your smarts to solve problems. But then Halo generated this new breed of FPS fan who just wanted to kill things. They needed to be led around by the hand and told what to do. Halo's influence ruined Rainbow 6. Destroyed Perfect Dark. Severely damaged Deus Ex. A lot of what is wrong with games like PD: Zero and Deus Ex: Invisible War can be blamed on Xbox's audience.

blast corps?

I remember an article from several years ago in which Microsoft discussed the possibility of bringing back Perfect Dark for 2020 because the original game took place in that year or something along those lines.

wut, Halo if anything is more open and difficult than Half-Life. And the first games was pretty by the numbers to the point that if you were naive, you'd think it was just a sequel to Unreal. I feel like Halo has its own "trump derangement syndrome". If anything FPS's died when the market got flooded by World War 2 games.

Good shooters were still being made after 2001, Unreal Tournament 2004 for instance and Team Fortress 2.

Perfect Dark has so much content, features, and settings that even many of todays games don't match it. It was so ahead of its time it's not funny. A proper sequel that takes all of that (and more) would be unbelievable.

As for PDZ, it was a weak follow up, but not a bad game. It was more of a Halo replacement (until 3 launched) for the 360.

again, sorry for linking to gamespot

Half-Life was hardly the benchmark for FPS sophistication, user. A large reason why Turok 3 is disliked compared to Turok 2 is because Turok 3 has Half-Life style level design where you walk down a disguised corridor and none of the doors work.
>Good shooters were still being made after 2001, Unreal Tournament 2004 for instance and Team Fortress 2.
Multiplayer games aren't really relevant to the discussion. Whole other kettle of fish.
>And the first games was pretty by the numbers to the point that if you were naive, you'd think it was just a sequel to Unreal.
Wait, what? What first games?

PD Zero is a bad game, IMO. It was like Project Snowblind, but Perfect Dark. It's ugly, the writing is shit, the level design is shit, the scripting is shit, and the whole game is garish and unpleasant. It should have been scrapped and rebooted, but MS demanded a launch title.

You boot PD Zero, and the first thing that happens is that you can't move because it wants to force you to watch a scripted scene. That is "fuck this shit" tier misunderstanding of why people loved PD.

Why do you think Perfect Dark: Zero has a shitty 2 weapon limit when the original had a dynamic wheel-style system for weapons and gadgets? Fucking Halo. Why did Rainbow 6 go from smart and tactical (2003) to brain-dead Xbox exclusive simplistic shooters with no planning stage, regenerating health, no direct squad control, etc? (2004)? Fucking Halo, that's why.

>It's ugly, the writing is shit, the level design is shit, the scripting is shit
I mostly agree however there's parts of it that are good. The multiplayer (especially zombies) was fun and full of options. The second level in the club was a good example of the campaign when it wanted to be good (though rarely). Soundtrack is decent if you don't compare it to the first.

It's not a terrible game, just something that hasn't aged well and certainly doesn't do the previous game justice.

>MS' first party is still incompetent
Imagine my shock

The MP for PD: Zero was fine, input latency aside. Pretty much all the criticisms of Zero center on its SP and Co-Op. Zero's MP is arguably better than the original's.

It's not an issue of competence. Their announcement plans got shuffled around due to the virus.

Try blaming the devs, you dumbass fag, I always laugh at how Halo still causes asshurt to faggots like you.

Conker?

No, the pressure came from publishers, not the development teams per se. Most developers don't like seeing their games become bland and generic. But management wants more sales, wants more mainstream appeal. Halo marked the point where publishers began severely damaging iconic IPs chasing its audience. PC-oriented franchises like Rainbow 6 were hardest hit. The last proper Rainbow 6 game released in 2003. BioShock is borderline retarded compared to System Shock because they focus tested with the kind of people who play Halo and Call of Duty. Remember when Call of Duty was a PC series? Remember when it had lean buttons?
