How exactly does karma work? If i steal from bad people like the Powder Gangers, I get -Karma, but shouldnt that be like +Karma or at least neutral? You are given +Karma for killing them iirc, so why -Karma for pickpocketing or stealing

Powder's equipment is actually just stolen NCR equipment. So when you steal from them you're stealing from the NCR by proxy

Karma has a bunch of overlooked values because they were rushed and put no effort into it. JSawyer fixes a lot of it, like not getting positive karma from Fiends, not losing Karma for stealing from Evil aligned factions and Evil Karma characters no longer giving you ten times the karma of the very few Very Evil Karma characters
