PCSX 2 stable feature-freeze 1.6.0 release is FINALLY out! THIS IS NOT A DRILL!

I repeat - this is NOT a drill!
The ill-notorious "ePSXe/ZSnes-tier equivalent of PS 2 emulation scene" has been finally (almost FOUR years later) updated to version 1.6.0 (from 1.4.0, completely skipping 1.5.0 because PCSX2's core devs are utter fucking retards and extremely entitles pieces of hipster shit) and is now available on the official site!

Great! Time to play
>le vidya jaem

Choto mate user, why does 1.6.0 run worse than the fucking nightly builds? Why are the nightly builds on 1.7????? user your thread sucks WTF

>inb4 shill

Can I finally play PS2 games on PC without stutters and audio issues

So can this play Valkyrie Profile 2 now?

PS2 emulation is always going to be considered subpar as long as there isn't a non-plugin based alternative. Nobody uses ePSXe anymore for a good reason.

>Removal of Direct3D9 renderer

soulless

>1.6.0 run worse than the fucking nightly builds
?????

So ita not a buggy piece of shit anymore or what?

so what's the big deal? is this actually a good release?

Any notable games that got a performance improvement?

So will i still have to waste 15 minutes in config menus to be able to play Persona 4 ?

is it magically better now or is it just a number change?

PS2 has no games

You could've done that since 1.0, for as long as you were not using AyyMD FX. Shit's runningfast ever since 1.4.0, especially if you're on Zen with SSD.

Is wasting 15 minutes to play an 80 hours long game that much of a problem?

>as long as there isn't a non-plugin based alternative
Jewgle up DobieStation and Play (Purei), kid. You're way behind the curve.

Alright. How well can it run Ratchet and Clank?

I tried playing Black and WWE Smackdown vs Raw 2006

Black has textures are a disaster, and SvR has a graphic issues.

4/10.
You made me download the emu

I'd rather buy a PS2.

this

NOOOOOOOOOO I NEED THAT TIME TO SHITPOST ON Zig Forums

Is Onimusha 4 and Shadow of Rome playable now?

couldnt care less, it already plays the game i wanted to play

How is it there in 2012, matey?

It's a slightlylessbuggypieceofshit now. PCSX2-instead-of-emulator, after all. Dobie and Play will save us all, but no earlier than 2024, so for now just clench and endure.

>TFW when you have a Gaming Laptop™ that unnecesarily heats up with 3d games and have lag spikes

>what's the big deal?
Shit's hasn't been updated (stable feature-freeze wise) for almost five years due to devs being entitled retarded pieces of shit who deliberately refused to release 1.5.0 to public despite many technological and optimization upgrades that happened in the last several years. This release is a big boy.

I literally got pcsx for this game last month

>his toaster can't run software mode
lmao

A new stable build means nothing, as you should always use dev builds of emulators.
>from 1.4.0, completely skipping 1.5.0 because PCSX2's core devs are utter fucking retards and extremely entitles pieces of hipster shit
1.5.0 was dev builds (they use evens for stable and odds for dev), which you could've used the entire time since 1.4.0 released.

>PS3 has eight exclusive games
Fixed your mistake, matey.

>discontinued in 2013
Good luck, kid.

Zoomer and/or Snoy. PS2 was the best selling console of all time for one single reason.

>you should always use dev builds
You are one brainless shit-eater of a newfag, eh?

All of the R&C games have been able to run well since 1.5.0

>PS2 was the best selling console of all time for one single reason
Cheap DVD player, yes.

haha DVD player go brrrr

One reason not to.

Not available to general public = not available. Kys.

I'm too lazy to do it myself but I'll wait until one of those youtubers does a comprehensive performance test comparing one of the 1.5.0 nightly builds to 1.6.0 stable.

>installs canary/nightly

>*hidden miner in the background intensifies*

Wouldn't be a problem if Sony didn't have a guy behind the wheel who thinks backwards compatibility is dumb as fuck and that nobody would utilize it. Maybe then the PS4 and 5 would have been good consoles.

>Not available to general public
Are you retarded?

>tfw I'm using 1.5
lmao'ing at your life user

Attached: 1500344837628.png (256x384, 167.2K)

>comparing one of the 1.5.0 nightly builds to 1.6.0 stable
That won't happen, because 1.5.0 is nonexistent as a stable correct version. It'll be a comparison between 1.4.0 and 1.6.0, the only proper way to do this.

Are you blind?
Are you retarded?

Please don't answer, we already know.

>1.5.0 nightly builds to 1.6.0 stable.
We'll seeing as they're the same thing, it'd be pointless.

You can fix the black skybox if you switch to the software pluging and then back to hardware one again. Burnout 3/Revenge is all I need this emulator for.

Will a GeForce MX130 be able to run it?

PS 4 is good console and it has PS 2 compatibility.

1.5.0 was never feature-frozen and was never available as standalone download on the site = it's not for general public = 1.5.0 is shit.

Sony should just release a backwards compatible PS5 that can play all games from PS1 up to the current era.

>stable
>emulation
Nice bait kid

>Dev
>not stable feature-freeze

Slit your wrists while walking out of the window at the same time, oneguy shemass.

*Expensive DVD player, the PS2's US launch price was $299

Emu devs don't feature freeze or do extensive testing.
There's no, zero, nada, difference between the latest 1.5.0 and 1.6.0.

20 years in development just to play Ps2 games on PC.....wow..

They're not, imbecile. That's not how that works. If it was dev/unstable, then there would be no reason to release a stable feature-freeze. A stable release is ALWAYS improvement over the latest available nightly or canary that was released before the stable feature-freeze.
