What the fuck were they thinking?
What the fuck were they thinking?
>this moment will be enshrined in video game culture forever
for exactly the wrong reasons but that's a good thing
There is literally nothing wrong with this
nothing right about it either
>this will be the only moment anyone remembers from Call of Duty: cant even remember which one it is
>the music hits and you stare down at your stub/the coffing while "paying respects"
it's funny because the American devs thought this was so emotional
If they had you press W or space would that have lessened the meme?
yes
f is just funny
I think it's from Black Ops. Am I right?
Other than to highlight the problem of video games trying to feign having interactivity by having your character do something that is completely lacking in interactivity. Might as well just have your character do things automatically if there is no real choice for doing it or not doing it.
Not Blops 1 at least. Maybe one of the sequels.
Advanced Warfare, the one with Kevin Rapey.
>Press f to feel emotions
No, someone would find a way to make it equally funny.
It's either Advanced or Infinite Warfare, pretty sure the first one.
Both were pretty gay I think.
>muh player choice
It's called immersion, matthewmatosis. The action itself is what impacts the narrative. It was never about player agency.
Advanced Warfare was a fun COD. It nailed the exo suit movements.
>immersion
Ah yes, I remember going to my grandfathers funeral and having a message pop up in my vision that told me to press a button on my keyboard. Truly Activision really captured the moment in their spectacularly written game marketed entirely to dudebros and people who pretend to have military fetishes
I think the real intention was to put a little twist on millitary shooters and make you think for just a second its not just random characters dying there is a real value to each life and a cost of war. Still a dumb video game at the end of the day though not fooling anybody but atleast it can make the devs feel like theyre making something with greater meaning than it actually has
All they had to do is leave the "pay respects" as a small Easter egg, as in not put the line in at all yet make the casket intractable, dumb motherfuckers.
no, the particular button isn't why its funny
>we respect veterans so like our games now
There is nothing immersive about scripted actions that you cannot execute deliberately. In fact it's the opposite of being immersive. You're watching a movie that pauses every few seconds until you press the play button again to continue.
It helped a lot
On consoles it was X instead of F but you don't see people using X for the meme
Military shooters should just drop the "WAR BAD" angle and let you be tacticool.
Press F to unpause the movie
Because the meme originated with the Screenshot from the pc version
The letter has nothing to do with it
Hell pic related shows that even if it was still the X it would still be funny
Because consoleniggers think this is the pinnacle of gameplay
Both Arkham Knight and Arkham City have a "Press SPACE to Pay Respects" prompt, and they literally pop a goddamn achievement for it.
The fundamental problem is that some people refuse to take Call of Duty seriously from a narrative perspective. This prompt is no different to pressing F to accept the baptism in BioShock: Infinite. It is designed to unify protagonist and player's goals.
I miss the days when we made fun of shit like this and not the SJW shit that is objectively making gaming worse.
Fucking hell, is that Homefront?
apparently nobody got this deep into Assassins Creed 3 to find this gem... I've heard nothing about it.
probably because I wasn't in the main story, and everybody is a casual
>press F to call user a faggot
