I fucking love the interpretation of Eggman being very goofy and hotheaded but he's sadistic and scary as fuck under the hood.
Also note in that comic run, the Egg Bosses which are just mobians that work for Eggman usually against their will; are planted with cybernetics that are rigged to explode the moment he's tired of them or if they do something to betray him.
