What hype I once had for this game has been utterly demolished.

i dont think they did, but the original rumor was that they will start the advertisement campaing in June so it coincides well. First little promos ,trailers again and then more and more, i hope.

Does anyone else dislike how boringly human the story revealed so far is? They put a leash on augmentation just like most fiction does, really lame. I want a world that explores going way beyond being human. And I don't mean having stupid powerlegs like Dr. Coomer.
I mean having your mind altered, and how society changes as parts of it become alien. Dealing with shit like having people's memory or personality forcibly altered, or hacking-induced psychosis. Having minds of multiple people merged into one, or having someone give himself a controlled split personality so that each part can specialize in different tasks. Having your basic instincts erased or replaced with something else. I want body augmentations to be fucking wild like people turning themselves into a fucking xenomorph hybrid, or able to see sound and radio waves. I want prostitutes with eight legs and seven vaganias, et cetera.

For example, look how boring Maelstrom is. They are called a "psychogang". They look unusual sure, but they BEHAVE more jovial and more human than a lot of common thugs today. From someone called a "cyberpsycho" I would expect some real demented shit. Like maybe they have a member who fucked up somehow and instead of cutting his fingers off or whatever they rip his brain out and surgically implant it into a dog's head. Then they force him to live as a dog for a month, and then put him back in his body if he was a good boy. Or maybe their leader starts mentaly augmenting normal animals like chimpanzees to bolster the ranks. Maybe he does that to a tarantula and the spider becomes so intelligent it kills him and takes over the gang, but it's still a spider mentally even it has 300 IQ, so he does bizarre shit like mating dances or weaving the web - he can't help it - and only communicates by moving its jaws and tapping legs on the floor. So many possibilities, these aren't even good. But no, we just have a normal biker gang with a traffic light for a face.

It'll come out when it'll come out. When it does, I'll wait for a little while for the first wave of patches, then play. I'm looking forward to it, but I'm also not in any rush.

Barely. It's the only game I've been genuinely hyped about for a long time. CP2020 was my favorite tabletop RPG. And 2077 looks really good.

No clue but they shouldn't be limited by the tabletop either way. No one outside of tabletopers ever heard of it. Witcher books were at least moderately popular in Eastern Europe before the games. The whole "humanity" mechanic is fucking stupid balancing shit, the only thing it does is limit possibilities. Like obviously making yourself into an octopus would have some kind of psychological effect but it won't be that much. There are trannies and bodmodders today who are definitely mentally ill (which is the cause, not consequence of body mutilation) but they are perfectly (semi)functional members of society and don't go on killing sprees if you don't count the 41% but that's self-inflicted.

Classic RPG mechanics fucking suck and only take from the gameplay. There is no reason damage should be based on dice rolls or whatever stupid shit. It should all be skill-based. Go play D&D or some shit if you don't like this. I for one love having more input in combat than clicking my mouse on an icon in the menu and occasionally and watch stiff fucking animations play out complete out of my control.

Classic cyberpunk is played out and was done to death before you were born. I'm glad there's new stuff experimenting with the genre setting.

Cyberpunk as a genre and a setting is already all sorts of varied. People have just fixated on everything looking like Blade Runner.

Well, that's lame. I liked Blade Runner 2049 a lot and part of that was that they moved away from the downtown in certain scenes.
