The original Luigi’s Mansion made the GameCube look uncool as fuck, especially since it was a launch game. It was seen as a beta male / children’s game at the time.
I would agree that it, more than anything, was most responsible for the GameCube failing to outsell even the original Xbox.
But since beta males are much more common now than in the early 2000s, Luigi’s Mansion finally found a market.
