Where the fuck is it? Surely it's not a next gen game.
Where the fuck is it? Surely it's not a next gen game
I never even finished the first game. People hyped it up so hard and it turns out it's just a simple 3D platformer with occasional puzzles. There isn't anything interesting about it aside from that
Probably a cross-gen game at this point. They promised it on PS4 and Microsoft reiterated that they plan on delivering it for PS4, so I can't imagine they'll go back on that now. But PS5 is up in the air. It'll probably be on PS4, Xbone, XSeX, and PC.
They better talk about this in the july conference.
people actually donated for this middle of road game?
When though? Sexbox launch? They've been working on this shit for fucking five years
The soul and premise is what makes it interesting, moreso than the gameplay. But the gameplay isn't bad either. It's better than most 3D platformers from the era. IMO it's deserving of the hype. It has certain rough edges that ought to be sanded off though. The 800 arrowhead dowsing quest can get fucked, as can the theatre level.
Yeah, that would be my guess. It's been moved up as a launch title. It would be dumb to release it earlier at this point when it can be used to drive hype for the new console. Also
> They've been working on this shit for fucking five years
Are you familiar with Double Fine? They're famous for going over time and over budget.
Waiting for an exclusivity bid that no one will offer because he ate all of the money.
I bet Xbox already tried and the price tag was not worth it.
It's being made by a guy that couldn't meet deadlines or stay within budget, Mr 3.3 mil to create a half ass point and click adventure. You won't see it till maybe a year or two
What soul though? I mean I never found any of the characters particularly charming. In fact most were assholes. And the art style is okay I guess. Serves its purpose but isn't exactly easy on the eyes
Uhh... user... I...
Schafer has been washed up for decades.
The summer camp aesthetic was comfy, and being able to go into character's minds and interact with the physical manifestation of their thoughts was a genuinely cool premise. Even if they're assholes, you get to go into their minds and see what's wrong with them and why they're assholes. You can open their emotional baggage and see slide shows of what traumas they have in their past. The artstyle of the first one had an issue with brownish muddy textures, but the new one looks a lot better in that regard with much nicer textures.
I guess it's a neat premise but I just don't see any reason for praise. Seemed like an 8/10 at best. I guess I'll replay it if the second ever releases though
Microsoft bought the company
Poor Microsoft, trying to get a hold of any studio and ending up buying a mediocre has been that's past his prime
Personally I'm happy MS bought them. They're the one publisher that can afford to gamble, and double fine are very hit and miss.
I'd rather take a unique middle of the road game over more AAA games that cost so much that anything unique about them has to be sanded down into nothing for fear of scaring off the mainstream audience.
Everything they've showed of it wo far looks great at least. Compare it to the shambles that is VTMB 2
I don't know, I'm worried that it's just another Rareware situation where they bought up a studio known for charm and creativity only to put them to work in a Kinect mine for a decade or so before letting them out to make a forgettable multiplayer game.
Psychonauts 2 > VTMB 2 > Beyond Good and Evil 2
The Kinect shit is over. I'm pretty sure they've promised these studios a certain degree of creative freedom.
LOL @ the guy doing a hitler salute.
Also, holy shit, BG&E is up their for biggest vaporware of all time. The first trailer was released 12 years ago and still no actual gameplay shown.
God Grim Fandango was such a great game, I wish LA made the game in the same engine as Monkey Island 3
No, it was obviously funded from the start and the not-Kickstarter was a total scam, but I still want to play it
At the same place as SMT5, metroid prime 4 and MGQ paradox part 3 are.
After what he did to Spacebase and Brad Muir he can go fuck himself.
>Spacebase DF-9
Never fucking forget.
Their ideas for BG&E2 sound no man's sky-tier as well, I don't think they really have any idea how to make whatever they have into an actual game.
Not to mention nobody really asked for what they're trying to deliver here.
Tim Schafer is the Kevin Smith of vidya games
